I keep getting calls at work and they leave messages for me with other employees. I get written up if I make personal calls. When I call these companies back all I get is automated messages and more threating messages the next day.

Next time they call you, get the name of the person who is calling and what company they are from. Tell them they are not permitted to contact you at work because your employer objects, and all further communications must be in writing. By law, they must comply.

Just tell them they can't call you at work. Legally, they have to comply. If they don't, the Attorney General for your state should be interested. Always get the name of the caller.

Of course, if you contact them, they won't have a reason to call. It sounds like you are in debt beyond your ability to pay. There is hope but it takes work and a change of behavior. Go to daveramsey.com. It's not easy but you can end the phone calls at work and at home.

If you're receiving calls from creditors the best way to get them to stop is to pay your accounts up to date (assuming they're calling becuase you owe money). Besides paying up, the most effective way is (arguably) to write these creditors a letter stating that your employment is being jeapordized by their calls because your employer is not receptive to non-emergency personal calls. Make sure you send it to the attention of a collections manager. Of course, you'll have to provide an alternative source of contact.

I would tell the person who answers your phone to let those calls through so you can give them a piece of your mind...If it isn't an option, maybe they could actually tell them to only call you at home and not here, as you cannot receive personal calls, and they they need to take this number immediately off their list.

Do you owe $$ to these places? They may have a legal right to collect from you in your place of employment if that is the case....

If it is solicitation...I'd put your work # on the do not call list. Worked for me!

Also, I would call each credit card place back, and find a way to talk to a person, explain your issue to them, and threaten to press charges under harassment. I've had phone calls that were inappropriate for work, such as selling me something non-work related....I tell them that i cannot receive calls like this in my place of business....but I can take personal calls so I'm able to talk directly to them.

An organization I used to give some $ to started calling and sending me mail at work. I had to call them and tell them that it was inappropriate because of politics, and they stopped...u really need to let them know how important this is.

Tell the creditor that you are asserting your right under the Federal Fair Debt Collections Act to not be contacted by telephone and to conduct all communications by mail. Be sure to mention the Federal Fair Debt Collections Act, that usually gets results.

Send the creditor a certified letter notifying that they cannot contact you at work and must contact you by letter only. If that doesn't stop the calls, contact you state attorney general.

You can send them a letter requesting they not call you at work. You can even ask that they only contact you in writing.
