Ok no one has ever told me to pull back my foreskin and wash it. I only discovered it when i was like 13-14 years old which was a bit too late i think. The head of my penis was super sensitive and i couldnt touch it at first. But then i started to keep pullin it back to wash everyday and sumtimes even pullin it back and leaving it back while i go to sleep and its normal now.

I just want to know what is the right age to start to pull back and wash. I want to know this so if i get a son in future i would be able to tell him so he wont get the same problem. Thanks

Babies and young children can't pull back the foreskin. The foreskin is designed to be attached to the head so nothing goes into the head.

So I would say that once he starts showering on his own, he should start; that way it'll become routine. After all, it only takes 5 to 10 seconds; that's less time than what it takes to wash other parts. =P

To one of the first posters; circumcision is not common in all of the world. The USA is the last developed nation to circumcise newborns, and our rates are dropping too. Our rates are as low as 14% in some states, especially here in the West coast, compared to being up over 90% in the 1960s. Taking those very few seconds in the shower to clean it will avoid any problems and keep it clean. Parents are discovering the risks of circumcision with the help of the Internet.

The foreskin is attached for the first few years of life and can be attached longer - sounds like you've got it all sorted anyway - I would say if you have a son then the right age to pull back and wash is the right age for when the foreskin has naturally detached from the glans and he is able to pull it back. Then he needs to wash under it. Otherwise just clean the outside or as far back as it will go.

Basically, when he's old enough to bathe himself he could probably clean under the foreskin. The foreskin is actually still attached to the penis in most boys until about 3, at which point it can be pulled back in most boys. In some guys it won't go back until almost the end of puberty, so there's some variation.

The foreskin should also never be forced back. But once you (or your son rather) can pull back the foreskin easily and without discomfort, then it can be cleaned. See the link for more info.

I taught my son to wash under his skin at about 4 and he now does it no problem, cant remember what age i started. Some guys can't pull it back till they are older and some can when they are younger.
You are lucky that your parents left you that way, way to many people like beacher say that its better to be cut but if we were not meant to have a foreskin then why do we have one when we are born.
\Keep washing and keep happy.

When a boy is born the foreskin is adhered to the penis, almost entirely. Perhaps the tip is free.
As you bathe the baby everyday, you clean the exposed part.
The foreskin will become looser as the baby plays with himself [ it's such a great toy! ]. You push the free foreskin back, and clean under it.
As he matures, you teach him to clean under the foreskin, just like you teach him to brush his teeth. By puberty or shortly thereafter, he will be able to push it all the way back.
My husband used to tell kids."You only have to brush the teeth you want to keep."
Then we added."You only have to clean the penis you want to keep."

i would say that when he's old enough to bathe himself. baby's foreskins often don't retract, but as they get older, it should be retracted, or at least go through the process as you did. i remember mine used to retract when i was little, and then from about 4th grade to 6th grade, i didn't do anything with it. come puberty time, it was stuck, although a single sit in the tub was able to free it. If in doubt, ask the pediatrician.

As soon as he is able to bathe himself he should be told about the proper hygiene for cleaning himself.

Probably you just read some previous answer of mine then!
Anyway, after the birth externally the penis already is functioning perfectly! Therefore foreskin already can and should be rolled during the usual wash. With the age, penis only has to growth while its shape and external functionality remains. Ok?
