He will be fine my son is 16 months and eats all the time. He was doing it at 6 months also. It is amazing everything they find to eat. Don't worry as long as he is not choking you are fine.

Kids eat an amazing amount of stuff and turn out just fine. Paper, pennies, dirt, sand, pebbles, play-doh, bugs, and yes, a worm or 2 have found their way into a baby's mouth and disappeared. Some things, like the wrapper from a piece of chewing gum, you can see when it comes out the other end. Other things, like paper and bugs you may never see evidence of again, but it passes through just fine. No matter how vigilant a parent is and how clean a house is kept, babies have a knack for finding the most unusual things to put in their mouths. It's just their way of exploring their surroundings. Unless an item causes some visible distress such as wheezing, choking, or vomiting, it will be OK. If you have access to a Red Cross office or a local hospital, it can put your mind at ease to take a class in CPR for infants and children. I have been a mom for 28 years to 4 kids and have provided child care in my home for 20 years. My experience is that kids put a lot of stuff in their mouths. At first, it causes a lot of panic to see that paper go down, but it won't hurt him. It'll digest and come out the other end just fine. I remember the first time a penny disappered in my baby's mouth. I was horrified, but my pediatrician's office was wonderful. Assured me "this, too, shall pass" (pun inteneded!) and told me signs to watch for, such as wheezing, vomiting, breathing difficulties, and excessive crying that would necessitate a visit to ER. We only went once to ER when my daughter swallowed a locket from a necklace accidentally playing the "guess what hand it's in" with her little brother. She thought she'd be smart and hide it in her mouth so he'd never guess which hand and she accidentally swallowed it. She was 7, she panicked, said she couldn't breath so we went to ER, but she was fine. They did an x-ray and we saw it in there and it wasn't lodged or anything. She learned her lesson from that, but a baby just puts things in his mouth for exploration.

He will be fine. My son once swallowed an entire playing card whole. I did not see him do it and it was a huge surprise when I changed his diaper and it made it all the way through intact. PS He's now a Bank Manager. I guess no harm done.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as it's just a little piece. Same thing happened to me. It was even printed on and he ended up with blue lips and fingers (it did wash off)! He'll pass it just fine.

If she already swallowed it there is not really too much you can do. It will pass through in a day or two.
As long as she is not having any breathing problems I think tha you are safe!

It is just paper. It will pass through him just fine. Paper is soft and breaks down easily when moist.

I think that if it was very small, let nature take its course, but if you are worried and the baby starts showing weird symptoms, take him to the doctors!!!
