My bf woke up with his uvula swollen so huge it looks like it is covering the opening to his throat. He was even talking funny from it.

It could be if it swells enough as to completely block his airway. My now-deceased grandfather had this thing where, when he got a sore throat, according to his doctor, he was allergic to his own sore throat and everything in there would swell up and close his airway completely. He had to get to the doctor quickly whenever he felt a sore throat coming on.
I would get him to a doctor today just to be safe.

Although it is not dangerous, it surely make lots of discomfort. Therefore i advise you to go and consult your doctor. you shouldn't suffer or experience panic attacks from such a minor problem. maybe some antibiotics would do the job, but that's your doctor's call. Good luck HOMEOSHARE
