What's your opinion about this add?Is it "despicable" as some on the right call it or insulting? What's hateful about this add?Why do forces in the right still want to paint every dissenting voice as treason?
What's your opinion about the add and about the controversy?

Yes I have. I have also been listening to General Paetreus on NPR. The ad is correct. It shows that the general said essentially the same thing in 2004 that he is saying now.
Where was the outrage when Republicans dishonored General Anthony Zinni, General Charles Swannack, Major General John Batiste, Marine Corps Lieutenant General Gregory Newbold, and Army Major General Paul Eaton by calling them traitors? Where was the outrage when Rumsfeld dishonored the troops by saying "you go to war with the Army you have"? Where was was the outrage when Republicans dishonored the troops by mocking the Purple Heart at the GOP convention in 2004?
At least this ad is factual. When decorated Vietnam veteran John Kerry was swift boated the ad was full of lies.

I don't care for her because I think she is a chameleon. The whole nonsense with letting the boyfriend of her daughter live in their home while preaching high moral standards, her husband was (and may still be) a member of a movement that wants Alaska to secede from the Union, her basic lack of understanding of issues, and her abuse of her power as governor of Alaska. She is an opportunist. She takes away from the Republican Party because she is greedy and inept. I neither like or dislike her. I don't respect her and she does not represent me as a woman. She should have been vetted properly and we would not be answering questions like this. Her selection as v p candidate was just a last ditch effort by the McCain camp to attract women voters. Didn't work. We expect more from women than what Sarah Palin has to offer. She wasn't a hockey mom, either.

It's a great ad -- full of truth and research.

I don't understand what's happened to this country -- why people consider any contrary opinions to be despicable, and try to squelch them. That is NOT the American way.

This whole mindset about how we "have" to all be behind Emperor Bush is similar to the pressures exerted in 1930s Germany. Sorry, but I'd look just awful in a brown shirt.

As for Petraeus' report, he contradicted what he'd previously stated and in fact quoted or paraphrased parts of Bush's speeches going back three years! That report was not some impartial assessment -- it was just propaganda written by the White House. It's astounding how blindly stupid our leaders assume all Americans are.

I can't even begin to imagine what Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin would think of what the U.S. government has become. What I DO know is that they would march up to the White House and haul the traitorous bunch out of there.

At any rate, it's almost laughable that conservatives love to spit out the word "liberal" like it's an obscenity and say all sorts of puerile disparaging things they like, but then when someone dares throw a little invective their way they react like someone has thrown flaming battery acid at them. Hypocrites!

The only thing wrong is that it makes fun of Gen. Petraeus' name. That lowers the debate to the level of nutcases like TurdBlossom Rove, and we are supposed to be better than that. But the content is spot on. And Gen. Petraeus' remark to the Senate, that he does not know whether the war is making America safer, indicates that he knows that invading Iraq has irretrievably expose the USA to international dangers that likely will not abate until mushroom clouds bloom over our cities.

I just did thanks for the link. Everyone in this country has a gut feeling its not working. We all have access to the casualty websites and the deaths are increased. People also know that Petraeus was hand picked for this job. I dont think hes a traitor. I knew what he believed when he was picked for the job, I knew what his report would say months ago. How could that be traitorous. You can interpret events in many ways.

To me the most revolting/dispicable aspect of this entire "flap",is ONCE AGAIN the bloody Democrats and many of their leadership have ONCE again deficated on all progressive liberals/democrats and our ideological/philosophical `tenents in their virtual condemnation of this Move ON ad which is COMPLETELY EVIDENCED .

This bloody DEMOCRAT PANDERING TO THE RIGHT OF CENTER while as always giving the olf FINGER to the Democtaic base,`is a simple obscenity.

When the hell are American progressive/independants going to really create and stand by a THIRD PARTY .`

This is a DEMOCRACY in which the military is SUB-SERVIENT to the civil authority and does what the civil authority dictates which in this case is the President and Congress.

This near "cannonizing" of Patraeus is a stinking farce.

IT WAS THE SAME BLOODY GENERALS THAT SCEWED UP RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING OR DIDN'T STAND UP TP THE WAR MONGER BUSH.

This SAME GENERAL staff told us THERE WERE ENOUGH TROOPS BUT NOW THE NEW CADRE OF GENERALS SAY WE HAVE WAY TO FEW.

While we of course should LISTEN to these military "experts",VIETNAM and now Iraq testifies to just how bloody INCOMPETENT and POLITIZED these bloody EXPERTS realy are.

THe filthy war monger BUSH,initially picked those in the military who agreed with the BUSH/CHENEY/RUMSFELD strategy and FIRED or "shut -upped" those who disagreed.

WHERE THE BLOODY HELL WAS THIS BLOODY PETRAEUS WHEN everyone but Rumsfeld et al were sceaming THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH TROOPS !!!

I guess he decided it was not in his friggin SELF INTEREST TO STAND UP TO THE WAR MONGERING BUSH BUT SHUT HIS MOUTH AND WAITED TO HIS "DAY IN THE SUN " ALL THE FRIGGIN WHILE US SOLDIERS WERE BEIN G KILLED BECAUSE OF IN_SUFFICIENT TROOPS !!!!!

YES,PETRAEUS ON THIS EVIDENCE ALONE COULD BE CHARGED WITH TREASON .

And all the while the bloody Democrats throw out their principles and the liberal morality and ethical all for FRIGGIN POWER

Any general will tell you that with enough men and arms they can conquer the world. What do you expect from a military mind?
The only reason the world hasn't been conquered is because no one can foot the bill.
What is outrageous about this ad is that the country has been led into this debacle in the first freaking place.

It's not despicable at all. And, it does not attack Petraeus or even personally attack him. It questions his report and what he says. The right wing reactionaries in congress and the senate are full of **** and hot air that stinks like hell. I don't really follow Moveon.org but this ad is truthful and sites accountable generals through articles and statistics that are there for the public to see. Petraeus is fooling no one except those who want to be fooled and refuse to see the truth that Iraq is a complete mess and disaster and we made it that way. 80% of the Iraqis want us out of Iraq and over 69% say that it is justified to shoot and kill our soldiers who are there. I think if they want us out of their country in the midst of all this violence, then we should listen to them. It's obvious that our presence there is doing no good and could be making matters entirely worse. To question if Petraeus is betraying us is legitimate. Right wingers are way to authoritarian to be running this country and should step down if they don't like dissent. Dissent is just as patriotic as any soldier serving in the military. It's called fighting for your country and the freedoms guaranteed to you by the Constitution, and you don't have to be in the military to do it. As a matter of fact, more freedoms, human rights and civil rights have been fought for and won in this country without the military than with the military. If anyone reading this don't like that fact, look it up yourself and get educated.

BTW, thanks again for the link. You always provide great links. Keep up the good work.

wyldfyr..... Awesome. I agree with you 100%. The GOP and the right wing nothing but hypocrits with nothing to run on by slander and lies. When the liberals or the left tell the truth, they are slandered once again for the truth they tell. It's really ironic that many of the right wing call themselves Christians because they would probably slander Christ as well.

This is just the way right wing works when someone voices a opinion that is different from theirs. When the right wing slimes Kerry with the Swift Boat ad that was acceptable, but when one dares questions the motives or honesty of those promoting W's war, it's treason. What is even more scarcer is how W gets intelligent, honest, and trustworthy men from Collin Powell to now Petraeu to drink the kool-aid and become shills for the failed polices of W's

They used his own words against him. No one likes it when someone does that to them or someone they love or support. Those on the right still supporting this war and this president are only doing so because they can't admit they're wrong.

Even today, even after he admitted his guilt and accepted a full pardon from Ford, there are still people who insist Nixon was framed and brought down by a malicious liberal media.
