There are many factors to take into account. Health, for instance, is of the utmost importance in aged citizens. If you are 70 and have good or fairly good health, you can probably live to over a 100. If you are chronically ill, no way Jose!
The greater the age gap, the younger people will think of you as if you're ready to "kick the bucket". When I was 23, I thought that any 30-year-old was elderly. Now, at nearly 60, feeling good at spirit and in fairly good health, I don't think of myself as being a senior citizen. Maybe when I start using a walking stick I might change my mind but, right now, I look forward to a longer life-span and look back at people in their 30's as youngsters... Funny, how the cookie crumbles!

No way! My mom is 70, she has a gym membership and works out 4 days a week. She also lives in Florida and when I called her the other day, she was outside pulling weeds and picking up large bags of mulch and mulching her flower beds in almost 100 degree weather. She loves to ballroom dance and watches her great grandchildren all the time ages 5 and 16 months. Shes not slowing down any time soon and most of us 40ers couldn't keep up with her. Not to forget to mention, she's all about fashion and is one hot little great grandmother. God I hope I'm like her in 30 years! So, the answer is no, 70 is not over the hill.

It also says "but if by chance you live ten more years, it's ten more years of trouble." Ecclesiastes
Yes, 70 is over the hill but 40 no longer is.

Average life expectancy before modern medicine was 50 plus or minus a couple of years so most older than that are living on "gift" time. Nowadays people of seventy can be quite healthy and productive. Lucky ones (depends how content with life you are) can maintain this type of life into their nineties. But again, over 50, kind of a gift.

Age is a state of mind. I guess if you feel over the hill you are but you might only be 47.

Nah.
Both my parents are over 70 and they're doing just great.
Dad's still working full-time.
Mom loves traveling around and taking classes (foreign languages).
They seem to be just as healthy, happy and active as any youngster (If not more, as some young people are really lazy!LOL)

I agree with what most previous people said. That it is in fact a state of mind. You are as old as you feel. It is more of what you do that defines your age than the number.
