Is it not the fault of historically white organizations that sought to exclude blacks and other minorities from participating, joining, working for, etc? Would there be no need for Affirmative Action had these white organizations not created the need?
What are your thoughts?

I don’t see affirmative action as reverse racism. Affirmative action exists only to allow all people a fair chance at education, careers, and etc. These people are not receiving special treatment. For example, a person with out a degree, no formal education, work experience, etc. cant walk up to an institution and receive a job because he/she is a minority. These people have to meet qualification specific to the job, admission, etc. Affirmative action stand to ensure that minorities aren't being turned away solely based on the color of their skin or ethnicity.

White women human beings have been blanketed as area of a gender type not a race. by capacity of including them, it swelled the numbers of persons coated by capacity of Affirmative action to a element the place everyone who championed AA, had an significant majority at the back of them on the majority communicate of the difficulty. White women human beings at the instant are not discriminated against interior the comparable numbers as any racial team...yet we are in a feeling calling women human beings's gender a minority. As a team women human beings out style adult men around the international. they don't look to be statsically a minority.......I want i ought to supply you the ten factors in this question.

Eddie that is a subtle way of saying Blacks usually are not qualified. And yes you are a racist, I've seen your answers.

Nor do I see Affirmative Action as reverse racism. Affirmative Action was created during a time when there was still much segregation between blacks and whites. *duh* We all know Blacks were not treated fairly. We need to come back down to reality and realize that not all blacks are unqualified just like not all white people are smart. Okay? Barack is more qualified than George Bush.

What? I'm just saying...

Well, the main problem with affirmative action is that it is perpetuating racism. Giving any group of people special treatment based on race, sex, religion, creed, or whatever is wrong. The idea of using affirmative action to "undo" past wrongs will only keep racism going. It punishes people who had nothing to do with the previous wrongs.

Imagine a student who has worked hard and studied and made good grades and is the best possible applicant to a university that has a limited enrollment. Now imagine telling that student that they are denied because of the color of their skin. That is racism. It does not matter what the color of the skin was or why the policy is in place. It is racism.

What we need to do is work to treat everyone equally in the area of race. To start giving any race preferential treatment will only cause more harm. I know what you are talking about. In the past, some bad things were done. There are still some people today that are trying to do these things. However, sinking to their level is not going to help things.

Because they misguidedly see Affirmative Action as institutionalized racism which excludes them from getting University places and jobs based on the color of their skin

Because it is an imperfect system. Yes it was created with good intentions, and yes it does help some people get a fair chance. Unfortunately, it also brings greater attention to race and skin color when the main focus should be on qualifications.

I think affirmative action is racist in itself, as it suggests that minorities need government assistance to get jobs.

I don't deny that racism is rampant, even in today's society, but many companies identify themselves as "equal opportunity employers". I think that in a day and age where people will sue at the drop of a hat, most employers would rather hire minorities than face lawsuits.

Of course, you are right. I don't care about thumbs down, either. The truth is that if blacks weren't being held down...there wouldn't have been a need for these so called "black organizations" in the first place.

Probably because "affirmative action" is just a euphemism for reverse discrimination. Reverse discrimination is discrimination primarily against whites. Do blacks and others get their "feathers ruffled" when they are discriminated against?
