Ex police cars are will have a lot of miles on the car, but the car would have been on a routine schedule to have the oil changed etc.. so they should be good cars no matter the miles, however, there probably will be parts that will wear out over time.
Ex company cars, should be the same as ex police cars depending on the companies policies on taking care of their vehicles.

I would be wary of the police car. They will have a ton of miles on them plus you can bet that they have been sitting there with the engine idling for an untold amount of hours.
The rental cars, are usually better equipted, and maintained well. They will also come with some type of warranty either from the manufacturer or from the rental company themselves.
I have had good luck with the rental units.

Police cars: although maintained reguarly, police vehicles are involved in such things like chases, and are more likely to be worn down.
Company Cars: Depends on the individual company and how well the vehicles are maintained as well as how they are used.

ex police cars are very nice to buy heavy duty everything in them however when you need parts have to tell them it is such
another thing is some state do not allow them to be titled as a regular passenger car after being a police car check your local laws

Ex-police cars might have tons of miles on them, but they are generally maintained very well.
Ex-everything else (company vehicles, rental cars, etc) have been thrashed mercilessly, and probably haven't been maintained very well.. Avoid.
