Had this discussion with someone the other night, and it got me thinking.

I also asked this at work this morning, and it's amazing how many people thought hardly anyone would turn up.

And before you all start yelling at me, thanks, it's going to happen to us all at some time or another.

Why do we have to have a funeral? Whats the point? I just want to be buried, no funeral, no fuss. Just stick me in the ground and forget about me

i hope not

England is old and small and the local folks started
running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and
would take the bones to a bone-house, and reuse the grave. When
reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have
scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying
people alive. So they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse,
lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a
bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the
graveyard shift.) to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be,
saved by the bell or was considered a ...dead ringer..

I have actually thought about this, and although I would hope so, I don't think so. Not that I don't have friends...I have friends that I have had since the 5th grade and I will soon be 55...so, I think that says something; but most of the people in my life are scattered all over Calif. and the United States. I also live in a very small, little community...not many people here.

Noone will be there cause I am not having one. That phrase that one needs a funeral to close the chapter of that book is BULL> When I take the last breath I AM IN CHARGE OF CLOSING THAT LAST CHAPTER not the $$$$ hungry funeral home. NO funeral for me, no rented room, casket or otherwise....cremation and my ashes spread on some water...hope the kids don't opt for a big mud puddle, tho. lol

I honestly don't know, I know my hubby has said he's not attending any funerals..he'll mourn in his own way. Growing up his dad was a funeral director and they lived above the funeral home and I think he just saw too much. He wants to honor the person who passed in his own way. I'd like to think that some people would be sad when I pass, but you never know.

I think so as long as the people who attends for sure are family and close friends. It's not a popularity contest so I really don't care. I don't have a lot of close friends as it is but I know a lot of people. So I don't care if other people show up just family mostly.

I know my funeral song. I will haunt them forever if they dont play my song.

I have thought about this and i really believe that there will be hardly anyone there. Told my partner not to spend much on my funeral as there will be no-one to appreciate the hard work he's done anyway ha ha.

There would be a large crowd of people turning up just to make sure that I'm really dead. There will also be tickets sold for the dancing on my grave. I have a lot of exes out there and their familys that hate me.

If I live very old all my friends and contemporaries may be dead or infirm. May only be attended by family. If I died young I think I would have a good crowd. Suppose it doesn't really matter, but it may have some bearing on the mark you made.

It doesnt really matter you will be dead. Funerals are just for the living and really over rated , costly and just money getters. For me I dont care if i just have immediate family. I dont care for a lot of folks gazing at me in that bed with a lid on it.
