my doctor started checking me at 36 wks and checks me every week. He always asks me if I want to be checked since at 36 wks I was dialated to 2 cm already and now at 38 wks 6 days i am 3.5 cm dialated and will be going in friday to my appt and maybe getting checked again.

they usually start to check you when they do the strep b test.

Most doctors will wait until you are 36 weeks or more.

More and more doctors and midwives are moving away from doing ANY routine checks because there is no medical benefit in knowing if you're effacing or dilating until it is suspected that labor is beginning. All checks do is increase your risk for infection, and satisfying curiosity is not a good enough reason to add any risks to a pregnancy.

Good luck and congrats in advance!

My doctor checked at the beginning of my third trimester to make sure that I was not dilating. I will be 36 weeks at my next appointment and will be checked every week til I deliver.

First 8 weeks, consider the baby is under condition.
Then every 4 weeks check it again.
After 30 weeks, must check it every 2 weeks,
The last 4 weeks, must check it every 1 week.

My doctor is going to start checking in 2 weeks so I'll be 35 weeks then.
