Bush did not win the election. Look up your facts. The electoral college put him into office and we the people are suffering for his arrogance and anti-American pursuits. Right now, I'm still voting for "NONE OF THE ABOVE IN 2008". Obama is more concerned about illegal immigrants and being black than he is about the welfare of the country. Oprah is more concerned about ensuring that a black person can become president whether or not he is the "RIGHT black person". (And this should tell you that I don't care about the race of the President -- I care only that the person elected will uphold the Constitution and the laws of the land with due diligence and will protect our country from all enemies foreign and domestic). All of the current candidates have shown that their allegiance is not truly with the United States Citizens and the Constitution of the United States and the Laws of the land. They have, every one of them, held office in the country and have failed to make a difference in their terms in office. They have not had the guts to stand up to the money factions in favor of enforcing the laws of the land and they have not had the guts to stand up and support the wishes of the majority of the people who put them in office and who are demanding change. What makes anyone of you think that they will change their spots if elected to the Presidency? I say the proof of what you will do for the country is in what you have done with the opportunities you have currently been given. Right now, none of them have upheld their oaths of office and they have literally thumbed their noses at the laws of the land and the wishes of the people who elected them to office.

even if Gore had managed to win the electoral college (he didn't), and become president, the media would have immediatly stated that he received a mandate from the American People, just like they did when Clinton won both of his elections with less than 50% of the vote.
Here is a better way to look at the question....If Perot had never entered into the race in 92, Bush Sr. would have beaten Cliton, Gore would have been in a better position to run in 96, would have served two terms, and GW would be starting his first term in 2004.
Gore and Bush come from old families....hell, the Bush family came over on the Mayflower and managed to survive the many deaths of their fellow colonists.

You like alternate history. I think that 9/11 still happens. It was mostly planned under Clinton's watch. Gore would have condemned it but would not have invaded Afghanistan or Iraq. I believe there would have been another attack on American soil (Bush has been true to his word about homeland security), and that would have turned the tide against Gore. He opposed cutting taxes so the economy would have tanked more than it did under Bush and a Republican, most likely Giuliani because the attacks would be fresh in everyones' mind in 2004 would have defeated Gore. That's my take.

So perhaps acting on CLinton's suggestion, Gore's attention is on OBL. He probably would have acted to prevent the 9-11 terrorism. In any case, assuming he was not able to stop it. We would have invaded Afganistan, won a smashing victory, gotten Bin Laden. and established a pro USA gov't in Afganistan.
We never would have gotten into Iraq and the war on terror would be much better won.
Too bad.
Also, rather than deny global warming for six years, he would have acknowledged it in the begginning.
Overall the world would have gone from symapthy to respect.
We would not be wasting billions on a lost cause, and 9-11 would have in the end, resulted in the USA being elevated and acknowledged as a world leader.

First-Suzy you ar ean idiot-
anyways, Interesting question. And I you are correct, the 2000 election was an obvious fix and everyone who can't see that is blind or naive.
First I don't think 9/11 would have happened, Tenet had a good relationship with that administration and they would have heeded his warnigns leading up to 9/11 (Bin laden detemrined to Attack int he US). But I don't think he would have been Charasmtic enough to carry on into second term. I must admit some of his success was Due to the popularity of Clinton. yes I think you are correct agian, McCain would be the Most likely successor.
I'll even go one better..If Bush hadn't lied (actually karl Rove) about McCain and drug his name through the mud in South Carolina McCain would ahv eone the Republican Nomination and gone up agaisnt Al Gore, and not Bush.
Bush/Rove- in south carolina Primaries ran a smear campaign. They Cold called prospective voters and asked questions (keeping in mind this is in the odl south) "If you knew John McCain had fathered an illigitimate Black child, would you still vote for him?" and Questions like that. By the way john and His wife adopted a Cambodian Child years ago, so when peopel saw this dark skinned child at the Republican rallys they took the call to be factual. And that turned the tide in Bush's favor.
P.s. Thinking Machine -wow is that the most unfactual name i ahve ever seen here. You obviosuly haven't had a real thought in a while. I wathced an interview of an FBI Counter terrorism expert last night. She said Al-qaeda and terrorist cells are operating in the US now and are being watched. they believe they have them all under surveilance, but can never be sure. (Suzy)-So we are always fighting terrorism inside our borders. Instead of being in an Arbitrary third party country fgtting killed we should be tightening security at home and funding, instead of cutting Police and investigative agencies. The last terrosit plot that was stopped a few weeks ago, how exactly did the War in iraq solve that one? Did the war in iraq provide intel to the police agencies to disrupt the ring? No it didn't. And thank Bush for throwing the doors wide open and allowing Mexican trucks free reighn to drive inter our country un restrained with who knows what or who on board. That one is right up their with selling our port security to the United Arab Emirates.

Bush would never have had a chance in hell of a second term if not for 9/11 and the war in Iraq. Gore wouldn't have gone to war in Iraq. He would have been a great president, but the Republicans would have spent his entire term sliming him, as they did with Clinton, making up phony charges against him and investigating him. And the Democrats most likely wouldn't have gotten majorities in Congress.
I don't think the Republicans would have ever let McCain get the nomination. McCain has always been seen as a maverick, a 'loose cannon'. His independence is overshadowed in this election by Ron Paul, but McCain is still seen as being on the wrong side of the line.
After all, this is why they loved GW Bush so much to begin with, the guy has no actual opinions or positions of his own, he will read whatever is put in front of him.

I'm sorry, suzy, your an idiot if you think that. I had to answer because of you. Had Al won the election, I believe he would have been a two termer, and we would be SIGNIFICANTLY better off then we were 7 years ago. We should NEVER have invaded Iraq, NEVER! SO huge a mistake it will be with us longer then our country will remain sovereign. Anyone in the white house that really knows what is going on is either scared sh*tless about what they created, or simply feel, "oh well, glad we wont be here when all this cr*p hits the fan". McCain is an idiot, I wouldnt vote him dogcatcher.

I would have to say that very little would have changed. Sure, the candidates might have, but, considering much they say when running and how little they actually do once they are in office, I think it probably wouldn't have mattered who won which election.
Then again, we probably wouldn't have had that movie that is on the minds of hypocrits in hollywood. You know, the ones that fly in their jets (Which use more fuel in one flight than most car do in a year) to speeches on global warming and the oil crisis.
Also, we probably wouldn't be in Iraq. A bright spot, I believe. Afganistan probably would have been winnable (Blow them up for a few days from the air before getting out rather than staying there for six years and getting your people killed.)
Sure, some of the major changes would have been different, but the minor stuff like the elections wouldn't have even mattered.

If Gore had won, the US would have been over $4 trillion dollars richer.
Which is the amount of National Debt that has increased since Bush took office.

I think you are correct: McCain would have been the front runner against Gore, and he may have won. If Gore did well in his first term, he could very well have been a two term president (and then he wouldn't have wasted his time with that pack of lies he calls a documentary).
