“Gerry and Kate’s view is that if they take money from the fund, it might be that 90 per cent of people who made donations aren’t bothered about it. But if 10 per cent of people are bothered about it, they don’t want to upset them. "

its not about being bothered. kind hearted people donated that money towards finding a little girl, not to be used to pay for lawyers when it all goes t**s up

My sentiments exactly!

Loopy - READ the bloody LINK! In fact, you don't have to go to that bother. Read the part of the question that starts with "Gerry and Kate's view ......"

EDIT: LOOPY - My apologies if the link wasn't added at the time you replied to the question!!

ORACLE: YOU ARE SO RIGHT! What bothers me about the "Leaving No Stone Unturned" fund is that NOTHING - apart from printing posters and merchandising - has been done. The way I see it the fund should have been decreasing daily because the cash was being used to SEARCH for MADELEINE - NOT increasing.

Really!!! The fact that the fund was set up to find Madeleine and taking money out of it would be taking it away from the effort to find her would not bother them?

The fact that it would probably be illegal - even criminal to do so would not bother them.

The fact that the trustees have asked for legal advice on such a claim means that they can see problems. Namely that they would almost certainly be found guilty of mal administration and in the event of a McCann being found guilty perhaps even criminal charges.

Please let us not forget in all this that the fund was set up to find Madeleine and just in case you have forgotten because her name is disapperaing in favour of Kate and Jerrys ego trip.

MADELEINE - MADELEINE - MADELEINE - MADELEINE

The only McCann that matters!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. If they are that confident that only 10% would be upset by using the fund for legal costs, why don't they have some kind of survey or poll amongst those that did donate? I'm sure that'd clear up any confusion.

If they DO decide to set up a separate fund for their defence, do you think they'd get to the £1 million mark? I personally doubt it very much.

That money should only be used for the search of the little girl. any money left in that account not being used i believe should go to a search center for children for other parents who need help searching for their loved ones.

I think its the other way round .90% would be bothered and the other 10% wouldn't that's why their is so much talk about freezing the Madeleine fund.

I think Gerry has that the wrong way around. 90% of people WOULD mind them using the fund to pay their legal fees.
The fund was set up to aide the search for Madeleine, something they have yet to start spending on!

Does all of this not give you a warm glow knowing that this debacle is going on and a wee lass is still missing in the Algarve. For goodness sake give it a rest will you!
