No, it's near Aurangabad in Maharastra. You can take a flight from Mumbai to Aurangabad. It's a 1 hour flight.

The Taj in Aurangabad is a decent hotel. The caves are within driving distance to Aurangabad. There's Ajanta and Ellora. I think Ellora is a 2 hour drive and Ajanta is a 30 minute drive (from Aurangabad). You should take 2 days to see the caves...1 day for Ajanta and 1 day for Ellora.

The caves are definitely worth visiting...really amazing. And take a tour guide with you. We had a great guide who had written books about the caves.
