Believe that Job disproves your position. Job freely accepted
God instead of the easy way out, and steadfastly held that
position through faith. Organized religion teaches the works
of God and perceived interpretations (different Faiths/denominations
= different interpretations)-- the INDIVIDUAL selects a denomination
that most closely matches his/her beliefs and
God-given free thought (selects, not neccessarily accepting
all facets). Religion in general encourages free thought--
free thought based on fact, produces Christians, Islams,
etc. Lack of free thought creates lost souls.

Not exactly. Neither organized religion nor individualistic religion is inherently an enemy of free thought and logic. The enemy of free thought and logic is FAITH. There is nothing wrong or illogical about believing in God, so long as the conclusion that God exists was arrived at logically and based on real evidence. What is wrong and illogical is to believe in God (or anything else) even when logic and evidence say that it probably doesn't exist.

And one of the reasons I'm a NON-practicing Catholic.
First reason is that the Catholic church knowingly protects child molesters and nazis, and then turn around and decry YOU as the hypocrites when this FACT is pointed out.
Second is that they consider birth control a sin, even if it is to protect a partner from a disease like AIDS.
Third is because they judge your faith by how much you leave in the collection plate,... most of which goes to paying for the legal fees to defend the above mentioned predators.
Fourth is the reason you stated, and that they tell you that you have a "Christian obligation" to vote for certain political candidates and/or legislation.

Religion is in its own way the enemy of free thought. But, in its own way, schools are also the enemy of free thought.
The difference between religion and the education system is that religions ask you to believe in things based on faith, whereas the education system teaches you to believe in things based on documentation.
And, before it gets said, I understand that the Bible and other religious texts are documentation. Textbooks differ in that evidence for their facts is presented, or obtainable. Evidence for the facts presented in the Bible rely heavily on faith.

yeah pretty much so. Religion in the world today, all major religions, function as political organizations and use God's name to control and manipulate. If you believe in the concept of Satan you might be wondering if organized religion is actually a tool of Satan allowing power hungry, phony clerics, ministers, and priests to move people away from God. That seems to be what is happening. Religion is at the base of all evil, violence and hatred in the world. That is what a Satan figure would want. So there you are, have a rant.

Some people can't do free thought.
They need to turn their decision making process over to a religion.
According to the constitution, as long as they stay within the law, they are free to do so.

Really? In all my Christians readings, just the opposite is true. They want people to think for themselves and see the truth of the path of Christianity. Blind, unthinking followers are not really all that useful.
I suppose you have this irrational belief because it makes you feel better about yourself not being religious?
