To show love for the pet. Pets are family to. Cause they can afford it. Mine doesn't get anything but what she needs. She does get presents from other people. I just tell them thank you. She licks them, but she always licks them. Giving isn't done because the recipient wants or expects something. Giving is done because the GIVER wants to share something with the recipient. My cat has no idea what Christmas is. She's not expecting anything except some food, and a little lap time. Bringing her some extra tuna and a nip-soaked toy on Christmas gives me as much (if not more) joy than giving my dad a new pair of slippers. I'm not likely to spend more than $10, but I'll get a response that would only come from humans if I were to give a $1000 gift. Because since the dog is apart of your family then why should he not get a present.

Yes, I have and lots of other things too! Cut open gift bags, newspapers (especially the comics section), paper grocery bags decorated. And once I had to tape together pieces of paper to wrap a present & decorated of course. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do when you're broke!!! I'm glad to say I can usually afford wrapping paper these days, but if I'm in a pinch I'd do it again! It's the thought that counts!

happy day, of course! i grew up without much money and i thank God its made me so creative! ive used MANY things! sometimes i would take notebook paper and decorate it to wrap it! i cant tell u how many Christmas' i found ANY and EVERY thing in our house i could tape together to wrap my presents for my mom.
i remember right after i moved out on my own i was struggling to make ends meet but my mother and i have ALWAYS exchanged Easter baskets, so i found canned foods i had around my house with a few treats - stuck them in a shoebox and instead of buying those colored strands u put in the baskets i took the shredded paper out of the shredder at my office to pad it :o)
sure, its not the classiest thing in the world but i think it shows a lot of character. rather than just saying oh well, 'i dont have the supplies to do that' you put more thought into it and make it truly special!

lol a little trailer park maybe.
I do it sometimes but I try not to get Santa wrap I just get gold, red, green fancy paper for this reason.
I'll get the cute kid stuff for my nephew though.
But I don't see why not....everyone gets to laugh about it and at least it's actually wrapping paper...

haha. *I* don't do that...but i know for a fact that a bunch of my friends do use wrapping paper from certain holidays to wrap presents....it's funny..but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, because it's bad enough to feel obligated to buy a gift (specially for people who we aren't really close to)....it just sucks that we have to either buy a gift bag or wrapping paper as well....ya know?
