They are different. The US shares a sign language with France as it was a French citizen that brought the language here. England has a different one. Russia has a different one. Even some American Indian tribes have their own sign language. Israel has it's own. When you visit some place like Galladuet University (for the deaf) you can see many of those languages and it is very interesting.
Even in the US there is Signed English and ASL (similar but not the same). There are also slang signs that vary from state to state, city to city and school to school. There are also home signs that people use that are signs only members of a family may know and use.

yes, different countries have different signed languages as well. Here in the U.S. we have American Sign Language or ASL. There is Mexican Sign Language, British Sign Language, Thai Sign Language and so on. If a person knows ASL it does not mean they can automatically communicate with a deaf foreigner.

There are different sign language and their are dialects of sign within each sign. There is American and British sign language. And with American sign language there are signs only people in the South would know, or maybe even only in Florida, or only in Orlando. Just like the way slang and coloquilism develop is any language.

Sign language is different depending on the country.

Each country has it's own deaf culture and it's own sign language.

Even in the United States where we use American Sign Language or ASL, signs can vary depending on what state you are in. For example the sign for the word "milk" may be one thing in one state... in another state, that sign may be considered unacceptable.
