Are you kidding? Years ago in Lake Charles, LA, movie patrons used to bring Popeye's fried chicken, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, BIG bags of popcorn, and cans of Coke (pshhhhh) into movies. Who cares. For a $10 movie ticket, I think if I'm quiet, I should be able to bring whatever I want.

It's the theaters that should be punished!!! They charge way to much for popcorn, candy and drinks. I know for a fact it doesn't cost them nearly half that much to get the stuff, yet they rape our wallets every time we want a little snack. My husband and I can't enjoy a movie with some snacks withough paying upwards of $50. I always take our own drinks and candy. The only thing I pay for is the tickets and popcorn. Screw them!!!

Hmmmm... you should be forced to share with everyone in the theater. LOL Just kidding. I think it is OK to bring in candy and other snacks. They sure ain't gonna search you, if they do, it is illegal. And if you want to take snacks in overtly, then go for it. Just threaten to bring a lawsuit against them for infringing on your freedom. Now, yes, they can prevent you from bringing in things that are hazardous to others, like glass bottles which may get broken, and injure someone. But candy? No way.

I always bring my own candy or snacks. The prices they charge at the theatre is outrageous! I usually buy a soda though. Sometimes I bring in dinner! I have a big purse so i can fit a lot of stuff in there.
You didn't commit any crime or sin. Relax and keep bringing in stuff. Maybe if enough people do this they will lower their prices

Generally, sitting through most of the movies out there is punishment enough.

I don't believe that is a federal offence.
You have a brain - anything not bought at the theatre is so much cheaper. The theatre may not like it, because they want your money on the snacks too, but you're not breaking any laws.

I have never given it the thought . I always place my treat in my handbag and one bottle of semi frozen water. I have never been questioned / ask what is in my bag ? In so far as I know, there are no TSA agents checking for liquids yet .

Um, that's not exactly a federal offense, but asking the same question twice in slightly different ways is really naughty! ;)
