titanic is a movie, which co-starred by Leonardo de Caprio and Kate Winslet, in the late 90's.it's about the luxurious ship that sank because it bumped into a huge iceberg....

The reason is that the chose "Titanic" over "Planet Ice" is one "it was a fake working title" and two it would confuse people of two movies entitled "Ice Planet" (2007) one is a series from the "remake" of the 2001 movie starring actor Michael Ironside ("Ham" on V).

I'm guessing it might have something to do with the fact that it's about the ship "TITANIC"...and the fact that the second film Titanic was a love story... now think what you like but I wouldn't exactly consider "ICE PLANET! romantic!!!! would you?

uhh because it was a movie before Leo ever starred in it and a real life even..the ship was named titanic and the whole premise of the movie is the demise of the people on the SHIP...TITANIC...when in the movie were they living on ice????

Well, if you think about just the title.. I think just the sound 'Titanic' sounds like something I'd be interested in over something called 'Ice Planet'..just my opinion..take care and PEACE

"Ice Planet" could be misleading.
"Titanic" gets right to the point.

For the same reason the book was titled "War and Peace" instead of "War, what is it Good For?"
