Got a Honda CG125 and got practical test tomorrow - I'm sorted for safe driving, its just I know they ask you some basic operations and maintainence questions which I have no idea

Can anyone tell me how to check the brake fluid levels? What points have they got to be between?

Also can't find the engine cut out switch - maybe my bike doesn't have one?

P.S. Don't say look at the manual as am still turning the house upside down to find it.

Mucho thanks

Need to know this in the UK - my fluid resevoir is UK style - circular and no min / max marks, just three ovular markings equidistant around the circle

Hey Matt

You may find some general pointers about what they will ask you in the links from this site:

(how appropriate!)

As for brake reservior - I always thought the 3 marks were for min. average & max. (or something to that effect) if the cut out ain't on the handle bar - you could try looking near the fuel switch (guess) or google the model.

I don't know about where you live, but here in Mississippi if you can ride it around the parking lot and have a tag, inspections sticker, and insurance then you pass. Also be sure that your signals, tail light, brake light, and headlights are working. All bikes that I know of have a kill switch on the right handlebar. You can check your brake fluid levels by simply looking at your master cylinder- looks like a small plastic cup (if both the front and rear brakes are hydraulic you will have two- one near the handlebar and another near your swingarm). There are two lines on the master cylinder one says low the other says high, your fluid level should be somewhere between these lines. I assume you know how to check tire pressure and oil levels.

Ignition cutout (kill) switch - Right handlebar, next to your thumb for easy access.

Brake fluid indicator, Round window with concentric rings? Outer ring is minimum. Center ring is average, or ideal. Inner ring is maximum. Or the other way round. Center is preffered point. Always.

The engine cutout will be a red toggle switch on the bars (usually the righthand side) - with a O and an O with an X through it.
