They are in the drivers seat right now for the AL wild card. The only team with a chance to catch them is the Tigers. if the Yankees just win (9) of their remaining (18) games the Tigers would have to win (13) of their remaining (16) games to finish ahead of the Yankees and that would be very difficult for the Tigers to accomplish.

I will feel much better after the Boston series. We come out of there with 2 or a sweep then I say we are all but in the post season.

Tough to say. Detroit's got a good, strong team this year. More than likely NYY will take the Wild Card, but I'm pulling for the underdog to take it.

Yes. as the Wild card. If they play only .500 ball (with 14 games left) Detroit is going to have to play .900 ball or better to win. It's not going to happen.....

Absolutely, they always shine in Sept. and will get very close to overtaking Boston before the season ends. They should be 2 games out and the definite wild card team.

They are beating the teams they should at this point and doing it on the road.
They seem focused and determined to make it to the post season and they will be there.

yes! chances are good they will hold off detroit for wildcard ,and now i say: the hell!! with people who wrote them off when boston had a 14.5 game lead over yankees in may!!
