Hi! I need to get a hotel for the last three nights of my honeymoon in Vegas. I already have a room at Harrah's for 6 nights (thanks to my fiance's generous parents letting us use their timeshare, but it is only for a week). Here's my choices, and I'm having trouble choosing from them:
1) spend a lot of money staying at a nice hotel mid-stip (near where I'm already staying) in their basic room
2) spend half the money staying at an average hotel's regular room at the end of the strip
3) getting a super cheap room off the strip
or
4) spend as much at a cheap hotel off strip as I would at an average hotel at the end of the strip, but get a nice suite with jacuzzi
Having a nice hotel would be nice for our honeymoon, but have extra money would also be nice. I can't decide!
What do you think and why? Thanks so much for your input!

All four choices have their good points and bad points. Right now, they are mostly equal to me, thus the dilemma. I can't decide! Thanks!

Are you staying in a REALLY nice room at the timeshare or is it just average? If your room is going to be fantastic at the timeshare then i would say you can comfortable downgrade on your extra days. If the room is average then i would say treat yourself to a better room but within reason. Personally would still want to be close to the action without having to rely or wait on shuttle services. I would want a nice room mid-strip or on the south end of the strip. I personally am a bargain hunter and I search for the best possible deals i can find. Check around and you maybe surprised with what you can find. Depending on when you are actually going to need to switch hotel rooms you may find a fantastic deal that will both save you money and allow you to pamper yourself during your honeymoon with a great room. Remember this is a special trip, your honeymoon. You'll have plenty of other vacations to go frugal. I'm not saying spend all of your money on a great hotel room, just don't get the cheapest out there. I just came back from Vegas a month ago and stayed at Caesar's Palace (a place i would of never expected to stay) simple because i found a great deal. Paid the regular room rate with a free upgrade to a much better room with a jacuzzi tub. When you do book a room , tell the hotel or put it in the comments that it's your honeymoon. You never know you just might get a free upgrade or something for free. Check the room deals on Travelzoo, they tend to point you to the best deals. That's where i found both of my room deals for my trip both with free upgrades to better rooms.
Good Luck and Congratulations!

Since it is the end of your honeymoon I assume you have enjoyed each others company and you want to experience Vegas a bit more. Why not get a room at the Luxor or Mandalay Bay at the end of the strip. This will put you at a very good location for touring. Just get a room with a King size bed and enjoy Vegas with your new wife. It may be quite awhile until you come back since you will be married now. Why waste your money on a room that you will be spending little time in just need the king size bed. Go for location. Off the strip is too time consuming. Stay on the strip and enjoy.

I never spend much time in my room while visiting Vegas. Don't stay off the strip. It is such a pain to either drive there, or pay for a taxi. Traffic is sooo bad. Especially if you are going to be drinking....you don't want a long ride back, nor do you want to drive. I always recommend the Flamingo. Awesome pool area for one of the cheaper places...and its just that...considerably less expensive than other places, and you are sooo central on the strip. There is a monorail station built into the hotel, so its easy to get around. You will quickly learn that Vegas is really expensive. The restaurants, the drinks, shows everything is pricey. Stay on the strip for convenience, but dont pay an arm and a leg. It is your honeymoon, so mention that when you get there, and they may upgrade you, or offer you a honeymooners package. I do have to say that since everyone keeps debating room quality and how important it is, I have stayed in penthouses in Las Vegas, and I have stayed in really cheap places like Imperial Palace. You are not going to spend that much time in your room, and from someone who has experienced all different levels of accommodations in Vegas....the Flamingo one of my faves.

it's your honeymoon. GO ALL OUT. If it were just a regular trip to Vegas Id say spend less on a room; but for your honeymoon? get the best, nicest room you can afford! i'd go for a honeymoon suite at one of the higher end hotels (or even mid range ones have nice honeymoon suites. Best would be Venetian, Caesars, Bellagio, Wynn. If theyre out of your price range; MGM Grand, Mirage, Mandalay Bay, etc.

It's your honeymoon and you won't have that same experience again so live it up a bit. I just don't get that people think that a room is a room is a room because you're just sleeping in it. Believe me, if I have to look at a tacky room while I'm awake the whole experience is ruined. When you lay down in luxury, you wake up in luxury and you feel like a queen. Choose the Wynn....one of the most luxurious rooms and enjoy your honeymoon.

I think you should stay at Harrah's. You're not going to want to pack up and move all you stuff to a new hotel half way through the honeymoon.
If that's not doable, then I would say go to the best location, nothing like being close to everything. As they say in real estate, "location, location, location".

i agree with the last poster, normally i would recommend option 2 or 3 but def option 1 in this case seeing as it is your honeymoon and its a once in a lifetime thing.
Option 4 is good too if you can really get a nice suite, Signature at MGM have probably the nicest rooms in town

To me it would depend on what i wanted.
I probably would go off the strip and get a nice suite(provided that there was maybe a free shuttle to where the main strip was).
second choice would be a nice hotel mid strip-in their basic room.

my thoughts are this..
when you close your eyes..aka sleeping
every room is more or less the same
unless you are going to be spending a large amount of time in the room awake..
so the real question is.. where are you going to spend the most time.. in your room.. or somewhere else in Vegas
if you dont have your own transportation and where you want to visit isnt close to where you want to sleep.. then the cost of transportation vs
the extra cost in staying at closer higher priced hotels may be a factor in your choice..

rent a car and go to Green Valley Ranch in Henderson or the Red Rock in Sumerlin. They are both station casino properties. reasonable and great places.
Ex pres Clinton go to the Green valley ranch.
