Rap "artists" rap about those things for 2 reasons, no 3 reasons.
1. The record execs are the main problem. They tell a struggling rapper "this is what sells" and the rapper sells his soul, self respect and whatever else in the hopes it will get a "deal" like 50-Cent.
2. Most rappers are limited in there intellilect. By that I mean that don't try to expand on their mental capacity. They believe because they have such a unique view on the world they are already smarter than the average person. When in reality they are only smarter than the "dumb" people that follow them. They mistake the lack of understanding of their slang by people outside their circle to mean they are actually smarter than other people. They don't realize that what they are so "good" at is only a very, very small part of the overall world.
3. Society is buying it. We promote negativity, rudeness, trouble-makers, ruthless people, money hungry people, sexual displays and everything else.
MONEY IS NOT EVIL, IT IS WHAT YOU DO TO GET AND WHAT YOU DO WITH IT!!

That is just some of the mainstream rap. Other chart toppers like Talib Kweli, Kanye West and, Common don't rap about murder & money. There are different styles of rap today.50 Cent sells his music under controversy.

the difficulty with hip hop is larger than Lil Wayne. i like to look on the source of the difficulty. first of all hip hop isn't lifeless. people are nonetheless working away with that Nas album and misinterpreting it, the comparable way idiots do with holy books. Nas already mentioned that he grow to be attempting to spark debate and communicate...nonetheless people are taking issues too actually. Hip hop has been pushed underground for the main area because of the fact determination artists who certainly have some thing suitable to declare are no longer given a shot at a incredible checklist deal. That has no longer something to do with Lil Wayne or 50 Cent. Like Nas mentioned. "I comprehend, get funds". those adult adult males are no longer the difficulty. the difficulty is a loss of determination. whilst i grow to be an adolescent there grow to be plenty style in hip hip. it fairly is the reason we enjoyed it plenty. in case you have been observing wager Rap city interior the late 80's early ninety's each and every group or artist you observed had a various stlye, a various message. there grow to be a Yin and Yang high quality that often gave you the prospect for stability. In 2009 there is not any stability. all the artists look the comparable. The video clips look the comparable. The messages are the comparable, and the messages are unfavourable, fictional, misogynistic fairy memories that maximum of those punks make up in accordance with aims that they had the nighttime formerly. take up your argument with Viacom (they very own wager and MTV). take up your argument with sparkling Channel Radio (they run or very own lots of the so mentioned as "city" radio stations). they're people who've silenced the alternative hip hop artists. it fairly is the reason hip hop is in this is cutting-edge state. there is not any stability. No determination interior the mainstream. it fairly is the reason issues are so undesirable now. We had determination whilst i grow to be becoming up, yet now this is been taken away.

It's what the rappers, as well as their promoters and agents, possibly think can launch them out to the mainstream. There are people who talk about realistic things (and some rappers like 50 Cent does the same), but the singles you hear the most are either about violence or women. It's just like R&B singers who only sing love songs or rockers who only make songs about drugs and hate.

One of the greatest rappers ever, Eminem, hardly ever raps about that kind of thing. And if it wasn't for him 50 wouldn't be anything.

That's just their mindset, they really have nothing better to rap about! Look at their audience, that is what they want to hear. Just my personal feelings on the subject. Myself I don't bother listing to that kind of music, if you call it that!
