Most of the hateful answers above are from “liberals/progressives” who typically vote Democrat. I am a conservative. I typically vote republican.
I strongly recommend checking candidates voting records and see which is most aligned with your own morals & ethics.

In general-
Conservatives/Republicans are usually involved in Judeo-Christian faith based religion. Like any Christian they are not perfect but, the do acknowledge God and TRY to allow Christian values guide their decisions. Just like most of us they falter. They are human.
Conservatives/Republicans are typically anti-abortion.
Conservatives/Republicans are typically anti-gun control.
Conservatives/Republicans are typically against taxes to solve all of America’s problems.
Conservatives/Republicans usually believe that teaching personal responsibility take precedence over free hand outs to those who do not pursue education and good jobs to take care of themselves and their family.
It is a statistically proven fact that conservatives/republicans give more in time and money to charity than do liberals/democrats.
Conservatives/Republicans typically will acknowledge and be willing to confront and fight anyone who threatens our nation.
This is probably one of the greatest essays on conservatism:

final analysis sensible: The rules fluctuate by way of state, so this would possibly not be conscious to you. There are maximum effective 2 activities that have a great gamble of effectual extra desirable than an excessively close by election. so think ofyou've have been given to verify in as a Republican or Democrat, to be waiting to vote interior the substantial, however you do not help that social gathering. individually, i might opt for the social gathering that many times wins to your district, and grow to be a liberal or conservative a sort of. some places do not even run 2 applicants considering that the sector is so partisan, the different social gathering does now not stand a great gamble. yet you will vote for whomever you like collectively as you get interior the vote casting booth, so it does not extremely subject rely for the hassle-loose election.

The system is out dated, no longer works and needs to be dissolved. It has become a system of agenda and has lost it's focus. Originally I believe it had to do with different values of working people and establishment including core issues that separated groups and they split into two parties to provide a basis for negotiation & discussion. Now it's an excuse to disagree and no longer a means to resolve an issue. Thank you.

democrats: want people to remain uneducated and unskilled, so they can remain dependent on Big Gov't. that's how they hold their power. more for individual freedoms than reps, but yet want bigger gov't programs.
republicans: SEEM like religious zealots, but it's an act. they destroy the environment without a single consideration to future generations, and are the first in line to convict someone based on speculation. notice how the more freedoms reps give to other countries, the more they take away over here?
independents: wishy-washy, fence-riders with no real will of their own, that would allow them to take a stand on one side or the other.

There is NO difference. The sole purpose of 'POLITICAL PARTIES' is to get elected. If you think it is to serve "the common good" you might have been right in many years gone by, but not anymore. Political parties and their supporters have an "A G E N D A" and it does not include you.

The democrat party is more inclined to government assistance, controlled freedoms, and more financial strength in the hands of the people.
The republican prefer a smaller, stronger government with minimal government assist programs, and financial strength more in the corporate hands.

Most Republicans are conservatives. The word conservative in itself gives one a pretty good idea of what they are and for what they stand.
On the other hand, most Democrats are liberals, not to be confused with libertarians. The word liberal too, is self explained.

Republicans tend to support big corporations initiatives. Republicans, since Reagan, support christian fundamentalist positions on social issues of the day: they are against abortion and gay marriage, and use symbolic patriotism to invigorate their base.
Democrats tend to support unions and legislation intended to protect workers. Democrats, since LBJ, support civil rights for minorities. Democrats tend to support minorities in social issues of the day: abortion rights, gay marriage, and fair and equal treatment of women and minorities.

Democrats hate most things American and want to get their hands in your wallet while dating people of their own sex.
Republicans are basically rich white guys and people who talk to the sky praising Jesus while sending your kids off to fight for their corporation.
God Bless and good luck.
