It's wishful thinking on their part.

Because they know the whole coffee cafe menu by heart. They think just because they think on a socialistic, Soviet Union, ideal it makes them above the rest who enjoy capitalism and a free country. And most of all, because they dropped out of high school and get a high from drugs they feel otherwise ethereal and on a higher pedestal.

The true intellectuals are people who get an education, get a great job, raise a family, teach morality, values and right and wrong to carry on into the future to ensure the pride, honor and respect America once had, and still has but not as much it seems nowadays.

But you have to admit, those intellectuals are the greatest example of how great this country is, even if they do spit on it! Because if they did not live in a free country such as America, they would be either thrown in jail, executed or exiled from the country for disrespect, treason and crimes.

So at the end of their intellectual rants about how this country isn't "free" and they have no "rights" because of the Patriot Act. They should put a P.S. at the bottom saying: Thank you God for allowing me to live in a free country like this to express my opinion even though my opinion is against it.

If the true measure of being intellectual analyzes the capability of how a person can avoid or misconstrue actual data, facts and every truthful parameter of collected information and repeat it as unjust or unfounded, then collectively their assessment is only as valuable as how much information they can remove from their dialog while making others value as much of their empty illusions as possible.

Unless they add overly inflated or loftily fictitious information no one would even notice them.
What they want is attention. The more weird or taken out of context their babble is, the more ignorant people take notice.

Simple really.

If you can't do it, teach it. If you can't teach it, teach gym.

Academia is full of nerds who have never been out of the library and actually had to beat the bushes to scratch out a living in the real world.

They are, for the most part, government employees who can not understand why taxes are not raised so they can get paid more to sit around and 'contemplate'. Because they may be erudite in one discipline or another, their sense of self worth defies the intellect they say they possess.

They are firmly entrenched in the concept that free market economics is immoral and is a value that should be abandoned for the sake of social uniformity and they are passing this drivel on to their students.
These people are putting old wine into new bottles, and calling it "Emergent". They can not come to grips with the fact that Socialism is nothing more than communism's after life and it is a tried and failed policy.

They are even doing it in pre-schools by banning legos as an expression of capitalism. Apparently 'rugged individualism' is not something our students should be exposed to.

Because in the left wing brain anyone who agrees with them is smart and any that doesn't is a pea brain. Not all of them are into the mud slinging and bashing of others thought process but enough do so to make it a generalization with some merit. Heck if one scientist comes out against global warming caused by human action they instantly discredited as a heretic. Same goes for any one that says something good about the U.S., they something positive and they are automatically a Bush puppet.

Not sure I agree. I'm watching a bunch of comedians performing in Montreal on TV right now and the least funny jokes are made by people who put down their own country. I would suppose that it's a matter of relevance. Standing next to a conservative who is in a stall with his hand fishing under the wall, the liberal might seem pretty smart.

okay - the truth is, most intelligent liberals and most intelligent conservatives realize that it is the balance that really protects our nation. The American people were never supposed to be dominated by either. Does anyone in power remember what the word "infringe" means. Do you?

I blame public education. And liberal universities.

Yet, ask these same people about our US Separation of Powers. Or the role of the President in policy-making. Or the role of Congress in world diplomacy (*none unless appointed by the President, incidentally).

Every youngster has a brain and they know more than their parents and grandparents. But they haven't paid their first dollar in taxes, and they want to give away the nation.
