I had uprotected sex in August 5 days before my inactive pills started. In August when I got to the inactive pills I only bled lightly for 2 days. Now in September I am on the 5th day of the inactive pills and I bled lightly the first day and nothing but discharge after. I am not showing any signs of yeast infection, pregnancy or std, I just haven't had my regular period. I do normally get my period for about 5 days starting the second day of the inactive pills. I took 2 test one after I finished the inactive pills in August and another 4 days into the regular pills. Both were negative. I understand that you should wait 19 days after sex if you are on birth control pills before taking a pregnancy test (I just heard about this). I am scared of taking one now and it being negative and then what could be wrong? Stress? I am also scared of taking one and finding out that I am. Can the pills harm the baby if I am? I got alot on my mind, please asist with any information.

Most likely you aren't pregnant. As you continue to take birth control pills they will make your periods shorter, lighter, and you will sometimes skip a month completely. This is normal.

First off the inactive pills don't do anything, that's why they are called inactive. Taking the inactive pills just gives your body time to do what it naturally does anyway. You can skip cycles due to the pills, stress, and many other factors. Birth control will increase your chances of skipping, but that doesn't mean there isn't something wrong. Yes, if you are pregnant the birth control can harm the baby. The pills change your hormone levels and are supposed to make you less fertile while on them. If you are pregnant your body's hormone levels will change naturally to compensate for the changes that are happening to you. If you continue to take the birth control while pregnant you take the risk of throwing you hormone levels too far off, and that could cause harm to the baby and even yourself. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor. let them know of your situation and concerns, and let them help you understand what is going on and what needs to be done. Only your doctor will know what your options are, because every one is different. What worked for someone else may not work for you.

Oh man that's tuff I have been there. You can be pregnant for sure, I got pregnant twice on bcp so I gave up and got an IUD. Anyway, right before you are due to take your next active pill take another pregnancy test. If it is negative then go ahead with the pills. The pills can harm the baby. So you do need to know. The pills will have no affect at all in the results of your pregnancy test so there is no need to wait just cause your on the pill. It is probley just the pills stopping your periods, bcp are well known to do all kinds of strange stuff to our periods. So just take the test to make sure and go from there It is important you know though, because the pills can harm the baby.

I would give your doctor a call. From my experience sometimes the pills can make your periods so light they hardly happen or they can stop completely. My doctor told me that if the tests were coming up neg. at the time my period is due to wait another month and if I still missed my period to come on in. In the mean time she wanted me to keep taking my pills because it was so common for women to stop having periods all together. Start with a call to your doctor though. They are always happen to answer your questions.
