Now that it looks like the US military, of some size, will stay in Iraq permanently to fight the war on terror & more importantly to make sure that Iraq's civil war doesn't spill into the entire Mideast isn't Iraq starting to look a lot like Israel's West Bank? Another Mideast conflict, that has been raging for 40+ years, with no end in sight and no solutions to stop it?

So now on top of a disasterous Israeli-Palestianian conflict that will never end (& has been the root cause of the majority of all of Americas problems in the Mideast) we're going to have a disasterous US-Iraq conflict that will never end. What a great future Bush has created for the world?

There is one major difference between the two. When Israel voluntarily vacated an area, it turned into an immediate threat of physical violence. Both historical examples (Gaza, southern Lebanon) turned into launching grounds of rockets. Contrary to this scenario, if the US up and leaves voluntarily at any point, it will be so geographically distant that the anti-US backlash in Iraq won't lead to any immediate danger. Furthermore, with the fierce religious undertones of the Iraqi civil war, it seems that Iraqis are more intent to kill their own than Palestinians were/are, meaning less active anti-Americanism post withdrawal.

Exactly--the Armed Services Committee is in session as we speak regarding the "TIME-OUT-OF-COMBAT AMENDMENT" Sen. McCain "R" is totally against this amendment, states it's a "Back Door Effect" exit against the president's policy, rhetoric is what I say. Sen. McCain voted against the amendment which would permit the troops more time at home and much need rest from the war. The senators take a month long R & R from Washington and yet can't agree to give the troops their R & R, this is outlandish. I suppose Sen. McCain knows his days in the senate are numbered, so what the heck his party comes first. Thank you.

You seem to be quite sure that all people are like you. I'm sure many thought the U.S. civil war would never end, but it did. I am sure Iraq will eventually measure all the bloodshed that has accumulated and will agree to some agreement that will carry them into some sort of peace for a time.
It seems to be a historic recurrence that humans must endure from time to time.

You can't blame everything solely on Bush. We have been active in the Middle East for a long time. It's the same as blaming Clinton for the issues in Africa, or Bush Sr. for all issues with Iraq. Every president has sent troops to some country for some reason. It not always or wholly Bush's fault.

Its hard for people to accept that they must butt out of other nations troubles and let them solve them on their own .

By arming one side or supporting one side we also become the target .

Showing favoritism causes more harm then good .

We need to butt out get out and stay out of the Middle east period .

Nothing good will come of our involvement unless you count higher taxes that redistribute our wealth to weapons makers and their workers .
The 3.7 million people currently earning a living from the war and bankrupting america .

Christian Zionism is a theology that supports a political regime based on apartheid and discrimination - yet millions of people in the US express their support for it. How dangerous is it given the US role in the Middle East?
Christian Zionism is essentially Christian support for Zionism. Zionism is a political system based on ethnic exclusivity giving Jews preferential political rights which are denied to Palestinians. The United Nations has defined Zionism as a form of racism and apartheid. Nevertheless, in the words of Grace Halsell the essential message of the Christian Zionist is this: “every act taken by Israel is orchestrated by God, and should be condoned, supported, and even praised by the rest of us.”
