That's what I think. I've never said whether they were guilty or not, but I think the evidence is pointing to them being guilty. We need to be wary of what the media says, because a lot of it is speculation. However, there must be some underlying truth in what the police have found, or this case would have been thrown out by now. Either way, we should wait until all the evidence is in and a verdict delivered. I am undecided as to whether they did it, but I do think that they should at least be investigated by Social Services for leaving those kids alone. That is the only certainty in this invesitgation so far, and yet nothing as been done about it. Seems a bit crazy to me.........

I do! One common assumption on Y!A here is applying American cultural norms to a situation that has taken place in another culture where the norms of parental behavior and liability are quite different than those in a sex-and-violence-obsessed country like the US. Although pedophilia and child predation are becoming more and more commonplace in the US, such behavior in many European countries is often so rare that such cases get sensational headlines immediately. Pedophilia and child predation are so common in the US that just about only pretty little rich girls and hard-working boy scouts get any media attention on a national level. The exception to this rule is the work of John Walsh of America's Most Wanted. So far, I have not seen where he might have been consulted about this deeply-troubling tragedy.

I think most reasonable people are aware and are keeping an open mind until more information becomes available. The media is never completely correct. It's just the nature of it. There is always something off or wrong. I have a friend who used to work for a newspaper who told me this. It does make sense because no one is perfect. We all make mistakes. Sometimes we don't realize it right away or we have to have a story finished by a deadline and it has to be written a certain way.

I don't know if they did it but it does look likely they did if the DNA evidence is anything to go by
The thing I don't like is the people saying they are wonderful parents when they clearly aren't
If a single mother off a council estate had left her child alone for half an hour (Never has the chance to go out can't afford a baby sitter and just thought "oh it will be OK for half hour" and someone reported her she would have had the Social services round straight away so why should it be any different for them
They are educated people Doctors at that you would think they would know better
The law should apply to all no matter what social standing you come from!

Did our Fathers and Grandfathers not fight in two world wars, were our forefathers lives not lost in order that we can live in a Democratic society? A society where we are innocent until proven guilty. I know there is a hate campaign going on here I have, sadly, witnessed it. So I also know that there is an anti McCann mob. However, I do not believe there is a pro McCann faction, just a group of people who believe as I do that it is disgusting to cast aspersions and libellous comments about people we do not know in a case where we have not seen the facts. Trial by media is just 100% wrong. I for one will always speak out where I see mob mentality.

Hi Samiya: I know the McCanns are guilty of neglect - leaving tiny children alone and unsupervised with no help within cal in case of emergency is just plain wrong. I have not seen the police case laid out the the evidence yet, but it is not looking good on a superficial view. Robert Murat is still a suspect I believe, but no-one has said if his name is included in the "box of files" sent to the prosecutors. Now I would be very surprised if he had anything to do with it.

the sole reality subsequently is that the infants have been left on my own, unsupervised, in a trip place of residing which will have been unlocked. we don't even comprehend precisely how far this grow to be from the tapas bar or despite if tests have been achieved on a universal foundation, as claimed by ability of the dad and mom. What sticks in my claw is that the dad and mom have in no way admitted that their strikes have been in any way negligent. additionally their smug way, that's so time-honored of individuals of their occupation in the united kingdom, does no longer something to help their reason. they have pulled each and every string to confirm that the British press and wealthy supporters have saved their tale on the front pages. maximum of their capability has been spent on PR efforts in the united kingdom. maybe the quest for Madeleine could have been extra fruitful if that they had tried to get extra help from the Portuguese particularly than alienating themselves from them.

What an excellent question, I could not agree more.My gripe with the haters is their ridicule of the McCanns, the sexual comment made about Kate, the accusations of murder, and the comments about Gerry's character; above all the repeated references about "they left their children alone" and what seems to me a certain gloating at the McCanns misfortune.
I recommend this really excellent link:

Everyone deserves a fair trial and this includes the notion of keeping an open mind. Sadly too many people have already decided on the 'evidence' based on Sky News, the Sun, etc etc. Given recent cases of miscarriages of justice in UK courts, you would think people would learn from these events.

Plus my big headed i know it all sister in law is convinced they did it, so they will be innocent
