why do guys read 'lads magazines' (i.e. nuts, zoo, fhm, loaded) even when they are in a relationship?

Question asked by female colleague that I have no answer to as I don't read these types of magazines (have a solid relationship with a great girl), would appreciate thoughts....

Also, what do girls think of their boyfriends who read these magazines full of scantily clad women? does it upset you? why?

Something to do, keeps them entertained and it's not doing any harm. If they want to look at naked women, I would rather my boyfriend be looking at them in a magazine rather than finding some random slapper in the street hehe...

Also, not all those magazines are just naked girls... some of them (Maxim) have some interesting stories, jokes etc. Of course there are also girls to look at but that's not the whole point of the magazine.

I personally wouldn't care if my fiance looked at these magazines (although he is actually a science geek and reads new scientist hehe) as it's natural to look at other girls... I look at men (although not really interested in looking at naked model men!)

I worked at the rear of the Odhams Press when the First Page 3 Girls were printed on a daily basis.

It was interesting, the 'outcry' of (mainly - apparently) women about this ....while curious that there were an awful lot of girls and women carrying copies of the Sun paper ~ daily ~ which published it.

As a guy, I've never bought a copy of any of these magazines and have to admit to 'never having seen the inside of one either.' And I can't say I feel the loss of this in my life.

My bloke doesn't buy mags, agree with other answer, very expensive. I think He has more intellectual tastes, and would prefer a good newspaper! But he used to get FHM when he was younger, it did actually have some good reading in it, but even thats just wall-wall adverts now.

Well it's a common thing for some men to do and it's not an awful thing to do,there's much worse he could do,like cheating etc..
However,if they have an insecure partner that is upset at him doing this,maybe he should ask himself who is more important,the mag or the real life girl he has by his side everyday.

Does it really matter its only a magazine they look at the half naked ladys in it but its the same as checking out ladys on the street & every man does that. so get over it if ur in a solid relationship it shouldnt matter it only a magazine.

It's only a magazine whats the problem, so they look at pretty ladies in their underwear so what? Just because they are looking at a picture means they love thir girlfriend less? No of course it doesn't!
It used to upset me when i was young and imature but really what harm does it do. I happen to think the mags can be quite interesting!

I read the US version of lads mags, but gave up on the ones in the UK.

There are too many half-naked pics in them and not enough articles aimed at men. I bought one to read on a flight, and nearly gave the granny sitting next to me a heart-attack.

Because its more than just soft-core porn - they contain funny stories, movie reviews, fashion stuff, jokes, gadgets and adventure holidays etc. They even occasionally have educational stuff like the story of a survivor of a bomb attack, some hell hole prison etc. And ideas for binge drinking and partying.

I know relationships suck a mans life force, but we have a right to dream of a more interesting lifestyle, don't we?

4.Pictures of some poor guy with elephantiasis of the genitals.
5.Sex. (again).

A real quality read for any red blooded, meat eating, beer swigging Neanderthal male.
