EXCERPT FROM ARTICLE:
A slim majority of Americans say the Sept. 11 attacks six years ago make former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani qualified to handle terrorist threats against the nation, according to a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll.
Giuliani has made his experience during and after the 9/11 attacks the centerpiece of his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

That experience, he argues, has made him best prepared of all the candidates in either party to deal with terrorist threats facing the nation.

**This article is a day old, but a small majority of Americans think that Rudy could handle terrorism because of his deeds after 9/11. I am not a basher, but what EXACTLY did he do besides walk around and say soothing words?

I am not from the us,although I want to support his action.
Last night I watched abc news live, 911 celemony on the web.
I fell so sory for the victims.
Yesterday,in NY was wrapped rain,it seemed tears of us pray for the victims.

It does not qualify him. Giuliani is a petty dictator who tried to use 9-11 as an excuse to void the electoral process and stay in office. He established himself as a prosecutor who will stop at nothing to secure convictions even when the victim's innocence was so patent that the appellate courts reversed convictions from the bench (an almost unheard of outcome except in the Second Circuit during the Giuliani years).

Make no mistake about it: President Giuliani's 100 days in office will be marked by suspension of habeas corpus (which he has repeatedly denounced as a dangerous anachroism).

In short, those who are enemies of liberty, who are crypto-Nazis and worse, should (and largely already do) flock to Rudy's banner.

I think Giuliani's conduct during the attack qualify him as someone who can run the show during another attack.
The actual fight against terrorism is another matter.
Calm in a crisis is certainly admirable and desired in a president but, how does that lend itself to international diplomacy and strategic military deployment?
I think that Giuliani's center piece for his campaign has been that he managed an unmanageable city. This is true and what he should stick with. I just don't think he should be so repetitive, he needs a new act.
I saw first hand how he did it.
The problem is, that you don't get control of organized crime in a city like NY without gaining some skeleton's in your closet.
Hillary knows where all his bodies are buried.
She will wipe the floor with him in the general election. Romney has a better shot.

He was very compassionate during the disastrous terrorist attack. Sure, things were not exactly organized, but no one expected what happened on 9/11. He did not run and hide even though his term was coming to an end and was not popular in his state. What he did do was prepare all emergency personnel for disasters and such, but not a terrorist attack. Last night, I watched nightline and people were putting what happened on his shoulders... blaming him for the people who died. How aweful. He managed to save more lives over those who died that day. I've noticed that so many Americans (of all races) are BIG time complainers. Everything is about politics and because Rudy is in the running, they're trying to slam him (politics). Now, from what I am seeing and hearing...people are putting all the deaths that day on one man>>>Rudy Giullani. People are so stupid some times. It just makes me mad. I don't know Rudy; he's never done anything to me; I'm not choosing sides, but I am watching everything that's happening and how people are reacting 6 years after 9/11.

I'll post more on this soon. I'll brb..working! =)

Giuliani doesn't think for himself then, he's just following other people's views, not making his own decisions about the views either. We are never going to win there, it's in their culture to have war groups, and they are always going to fight. We can leave now and they will start fighting again, or we could leave in 10 years, after spending millions more on the war, and they will still start fighting again. It's a pointless war. Well, if you like oil it isn't, but I don't, so it is pointless.

His "state of the art" central command station failed on 9/11.
He failed to prepare New York City for a major disaster, he ignored sick ground zero workers after the terrorist attack and he profited financially from his association with the tragedy after leaving office in 2001.

No. "Handling" terrorism is not a matter of building defenses as we've done over the past 6 years. It is instead a matter of removing the root causes of terrorism which is embedded in the US foreign policy.

I haven't seen that any of our candidates are interested in changing foreign policy, but I hope I'm wrong.

I also don't think any 1 candidate has any better ideas than the next guy/gal on how to resolve this issue.

If anyone remembers history, they will know he wasn't even really liked until 9/11 happened and he was the face in all the news. Honestly, that was a great publicity face lift for him. I mean if anyone else was in his position, they would be getting just about the same recognition; that is if they do around the same thing Guiliani did. But I don't like Guiliani. He looks like a weasel and your typical political shyster; not to mention he is pretty much liberal with a conservative title. He doesn't even have the backbone to talk about real issues or bluntly talk about them.

I have other issues with Rudy besides terrorism. His views on gun control are way out of line as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather see McCain get the nomination, but that ain't looking very likely.

His stance on freedom of speech and other hideous things he did prior to 9/11, in my mind, preclude him from being a leader in this country.

He was great at getting people to rally, and that is an important skill, but his decision making skills remain hideous.
