I received my first free copy last week. It was from the middle of 2006. I listen to the podcast all the time (since I'm catching up) and am quite pleased with that. It's nice to have magazines like this out there. However, it has the production values of a not for profit. It seems a little insular too--many of the people keep reappearing.
As far as podcasts go, I would recommend the Skeptics Guide to the Universe. They don't come across so much like a club.

I used to have a subscription, but I let it lapse. I pick it up when I see it. I enjoy every issue.
