Depends on where the phone is purchased. If it was purchased in North America, it'll work in the US. If it was purchased outside of NA, then it won't.

The NA bands are 850/1900 MHz, and NA dual band phones typically cover those frequencies. Bands outside NA are 900/1800 MHz, and dual bands produced for those markets typically cover those freqs.

The simple answer is no, You'll need a tri band at the very minimum. If memory serves me correctly, Europe and Asia tend to be on 1800MHz or 900MHz. And the USA and some parts of Africa on 1900MHz. It's been a while but you get the jist of it.

yes they do used to work for Verizon and they were working when I left in May
