In breakups, the explanation of both sides can be totally opposing, both expressing truths about why it happened and why the other person did not meet expectations. Usually, there are two sides and two stories and or explanations of "why" and both sides have elements of truth to them. Neither person's version is 100% true and both have an "element" of truth to them.

I think that most people, when explaining reasons for a break-up,tend to embellish slightly in order to present their side in a more favorable light. Both party's stories may be mostly true, but the truth has been manipulated.I think this tendancy inspired the saying,,"there are three sides to every story. Her side, his side, and the truth.

That this breakup is like most breakups, and that both parties are telling the truth. It doesn't imply that anybody is wilfully lying; it just means that they see the situation in different ways.

There are two sides to every story, the problem is usually one side sees and believes things one way and the other side sees and believes something completely different. Each side has both their merits and their faults.
