I scored front row tickets to see Ozzy on Halloween weekend in San Diego. It doesn't get much better than that.

On paper.

I got to shake his hand, got a pick from Geezer Butler, and I was rocking out. About 2/3 of the way through his set, Ozzy says, "You people aren't crazy enough. The craziest MF'er gets to come backstage with me and the band."

What happened next was nothing short of a riot. Dozens of people leaped onstage, there were moshpits EVERYWHERE in the audience, and it was one of the most chaotic things I've ever experienced. Being in the front row, people were using my head as a springboard to get onstage, while security was shoving the mass of humanity back in general, including using my face. Security eventually whisked Ozzy and the band off the stage, and the police made everyone call it a night. It was all over San Diego news that night, and on MTV news the next morning. I looked like I was on the wrong end of a fight when I got home.

Okay this was years ago...and it was kind of strange and I was pissed. My boyfriend at the time and I were at a Queen concert. The cops grabbed my boyfriend and dragged him away. Of course I have no idea whats going on. Well somebody that was sitting below us and said that somebody above him threw a cigerette butt down and he got hit with it.
It wasn't my boyfriend but we missed a bit of the concert because they were questioning him.. That was when Freddy Mercury was alive!!! We were PISSED!

Last year I saw HIM and the opener was some emo band called Aiden. A lot of people were booing them, and I guess the singer heard one comment in particular about being a bad singer. So the singer asked the guy who said it to come on stage and sing the next song. The band started playing and the guy starts screaming black-metal stuff and the audience is dying with laughter. Then the guy jumps into the audience just before security tackled him and tossed him out. I'm not really sure why.

Hmm...Haven't had anything anywhere NEAR as interesting as some of these answers, but I saw Ministry in I think 92 or 93, and the guy in front of me OD'd. Literally started seizing and fell over OD'ing. It was absolutely terrifying. All I could do was roll him on his side and scream for security. (And I have to commend the security - they were REALLY GOOD about getting him out of there ASAP.).

Lollapalooza 92 - I watched a guy freak out - he had to have been on some bad PCP or something - literally rip a metal railing out of the ground and proceed to try to beat a security guard upside the head with it. (what is it with me and random durggies?!)

As far as odd band behavior - that'd have to be Tool at Lollapalooza - now I can't remember if it was 93 or 94. But they played fairly early in the day, and the pavilion wasn't full. So Maynard challenged the lawn to get into the pit (in the pavilion). Mass chaos ensued. People rushed the pavilion - climbing anything and everything the could.

When security got it all back under control, Maynard told everyone to line up in alphabetical order according to height and return to their seats.

Not really bizarre, but it was funny if you caught it.

I'm posting this for two reasons:

1. To let you know that I have no response to this. The most bizarre thing that ever happened to me at a show was at a club gig here. The bar ran out of Labatt's Blue Light (bottled, of course) and that should never happen here in Upstate NY. It's the house wine!
2. Primo's answer is still cracking me up.

AC/DC 1985ish Kansas City. A guy from the audience decided to jump on stage and dance around during "For Those About To Rock". He happened to stop right in front of one of the giant cannons, jumping around with his hands raised, the security men ran out to grab him, but before they could reach him, the cannon went off and blew the poor guy in half. It was sick. OK, really they chased him away, just a split second before the cannon went off. Nobody got hurt. But that guy was lucky.

Tim Mcgraw & Faith Hill concert @ MCI center washington DC: They were an hour and a half late. Sounded like @ss too (which was surprising!) and later refunded everyone's money, reasoning that the two of them were dreadfully sick.

I know that's not tooooo crazy - but when you go to a concert given by two country megastars, you don't expect it to sound like a bad night at a karaoke bar, knowhaddimean?

The only "odd" thing that I've seen at a concert was last year in Nashville. Aerosmith was about half way through their set when (during "Sweet Emotion") two 20something girls jumped up on the stage and rushed Tyler. He was a good sport about it, grabbing the girls and basically hugging them while at the same time not allowing them to get to close to the mic. When Tyler got to the line about "backstage shakin' your a$$", he lifted one of the girls' skirts up, revealing that she had no underwear on. Needless to say, the girl was VERY embarassed... and then she got arrested.

Not really bizzarre, but at a show in my home town, Chris Robinson (Black Crowes) tried to take some guy's head off with his mic stand after he was hit in the chest by a thrown lighter.

You always ask the best questions....and you answered the best so far!

I'll take a stab at it....
(1) Rod Stewart concert back in 1991...he was dancing and rockin' out on stage and his stage went on an angle. Rod must have forgotten about it and gonged his head on a light/stand. He went tumbling down and security rushed to him and he had to be helped off stage. He came back out on stage about 15-20 minutes later.....the crowd was all worried.

(2) I was at one of those infamous "Use Your Illusion" Guns N Roses concerts (back in 1992) when Axl Rose acted all crappy. Of course Slash was wasted but at least he was playing half-decent. But Axl was singing off key, off beat, the wrong words or not at all and finally he just stormed off stage. The crowd was pissed. But at least the crowd was able to enjoy the opening band -Metallica (who blew GNR away)!

at warped tour we made a human set or stairs, and used it to run up and jump about 10-15 feet above everyones heads to get a head start on the crowd surf... we went 4 people tall on each others backs... we go so close to being able to jump right on stage it was ridiculous.

Really good question, and Ive enloyed reading the answers too.
My best gig was during 99. I was in a punk band in England and we had a bit of a following amonst german girls....... one of which had asked prior to the gig if she could come on stage with us?? Our drummer, Lincoln replied that she could but only if she was stripped naked, painted purple and danced on a podium......never right?...
Wrong..... this girl had got hold of some magic markers, you know....... the permenant ones, and had stripped and literally had coloured herself in!! her entire face and neck was thick with ink and as she got down her body it was more scribbles..

And the dancing?.... average.....lol

Great question.
