Ash Ketchum, the main character, wants to be a Pokemon Mater, and I thought to myself, 'What does being a Pokemon Master entail?' I asked litteraly hundreds of people, and nobody has any ideas! So if you can give me even a general idea, I'd be very happy! Thanks!

I've been a loyal fan of this show since it began and I think I might have an accurate description of what a pokémon master is.

A pokémon master is a trainer that knows his/her faults and who is able to overcome them by clever use of strategy. Also, someone who loves their pokémon and is not afraid to shoot for the goal(even if they are at a slight disadvantage). Someone who is in tune with their pokémon and who is able to influence(in a good way) others, that is a pokémon master to me.

I hope this helps!

Well the series _claims_ that being a pokémon master entails understanding your pokémon so that you can easily win battles.

If you look at it, it's a kind of overlord position where you know how to handle your pokémon and they worship you to the point that they'll do anything to win (have you seen how dedicated Ash's 'chu is?), even if it means risking their own life to do so.

Basically, there's nothing noble about Ash's dream. He just want's power like most anime characters. Fortunately he's a complete n00b and fails at most things in life.

The only thing I can come up with is the video games that have that name, being a master means going through all the levels of that game until the conclusion.
