As an Englishman who is currently in the USA on business i feel i must ask this.
Most Americans who i have met are gullible.I met an American the otherday who thought that COLOUR was spelt COLOR because and i quote"They told us that at school".
I cant believe Americans are so gullible and they dont question utter crap like this

I know what you mean!

I'm an American living in the Czech Republic, and now my eyes have been opened to the superior ways and intellect of the European.

I used to think that kidney pie was absolutely inedible, but from my trips to Jolly Old England I find to my delight that it is merely atrociously disgusting. I also used to think that the English pronounced Aluminum wrong just to be funny. Now I realize they are doing it just to laugh at our reaction. We're so gullible. We think they actually talk that way naturally.

They also told me at school that England is an island !! That is preposterous. I just took a train there from France, so now I can laugh in their ignorant faces. I don't know of any trains that can float on water, do you? And I certainly didn't see any bridge before I fell asleep. Hence, England cannot be an island.

Well, I guess I'll show those geography nuts a lesson they won't soon forget.

Sidney, you ain't really Vicious.... You are absolutely right. I lived in the States for 3 years and although I love the country and the people (in general) they ARE very very gullible.

"Why", you ask ?! --- It is a SLOW process, over decades. Before any American starts insulting me for what I am saying, the political and social systems in the USA mould people NOT to question and to accept everything their government tells them !! It is the country with the most biased press and media, in the world !!! They have the poorest education system in the western world, a fact that many Americans themselves admit, the less educated are manipulated to the extreme and the educated and more discerning Americans are afraid to be UN-AMERICAN if they question anything.
It goes something like this... "WE ARE THE MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD..." (true but that does not mean YOU personally have a good standard of living and education) THEREFORE WE MUST BE THE MOST ADVANCED IN EVERYTHING AND THEREFORE OUR GOVERNMENT AND SYSTEM MUST BE THE BEST IN THE WORLD -- an illusion, of course, but over time THAT makes them gullible !!
Well, no system is perfect !!
Elsewhere in Yahoo Answers someone is asking: "Did you know over a third of Americans think George Bush is a great president?" - Well, those are the ***-kissers. Anyone who can possible think that G.W. Bush is someone worth following, copying, admiring has to be a little retarded or an ***-kisser.

Wasn't it the US that saved the British from Nazi Germany??

Do all of you American bashers realise that you would have no forum to bash us if the American company Yahoo didn't give you the freedom to do it.

Why does everyone hate Americans?

Do me a favor. Don't watch our movies. Don't watch our news and television shows. Don't drink our beer or smoke our cigarettes. Turn off your radio when you hear an American song. Don't worry about Americans. Abort all American related activities. Do not go to clubs or bubs that play American music. Don't ever eat at McDonalds or any other American restaurant. Do not use American computer products. Do not surf American owned web sites. Boycot Microsoft and Macintosh. Put away those magazines. Do every thing that you can think of to avoid all things American and see how freaking boring your life will become.

Trust me I can avoid everything British and it wouldn't phase me a bit, but I don't hate British people at all. You are the bigot.

Yup, the Americans seem to be easily conned by the likes of Nixon, Reagan, and Bush.
I beleive that Homer Simpson represents middle America.
Easily foiled into scams.
We, as Brits, thankfully take a more civilized and sensible attitude.
As a side-line, I am involved in a second-hand car emporiom.
Brit customers are enquisitive, and rightly so.
Yanks just like the color.
What to do ?

Bob.

i'm sorry, yet it fairly is propaganda. Romans weren't Christians nor Catholics. They have been initially Pagan. Catholics got here alongside after 2 hundred years from Christ's dying whilst Constantine tried to unite his human beings under one God and faith. As for us of a being gullible, i think of you're barking up the incorrect u . s . a .. the two do your examine or somewhat "Bearing fake Witness against your neighbor!" We do earlier we settle for a faith. enable me guess, you're actually not American (in all danger getting information off youtube or twisted interpretations out of your information media, and you're in all danger Muslim. learn earlier you lambaste us back. i is purely no longer politically suitable and settle for the hatred of others considering that i understand the united states of a does not deserve it.

Yes as usual the USA is trying take credit for everything.

They change all the spellings to suit there uneducated nation.

I have even heard English language refered to as "International Language" and "American English"

Even the spelling on Yahoo mail is different.

They even invent stupid new words such as "Burglarised".

Football is a game in which you use your feet not your hands.

Bobby's right. I teach English in the Czech Republic, and most students prefer American spelling and American accents. Most schools teach both. All words that end in o-u-r, like colour, flavour, honour, are spelled color, flavor, honor in America. Another common difference is the i-s-e suffix. Brits spell it sympathise, and Americans spell it sympathize. This is a well-known fact, and has nothing to do with gullibility. Ask any English professor at Oxford or Cambridge

There are a number of different spellings between American English, and the Queens English, and being taught a different spelling in school, does not make one gullible.

There are many words that are spelt differently in the US than in the UK. Color/colour, flavor/flavour, organize/organise, mom/mum etc.

For a country with an immigration problem far worse than ours, I wouldn't exactly call us gullible. Get ready for your prayer rugs.
