A pollis one question. Theoretically once you opt on somebody you're basically casting one vote.a canvassing of a chosen or random team of people to hold at the same time coaching, or to attempt to locate public opinion. A survey is better than one question. think of of surveying a plot of land. The derivation is "to look over." a focused learn or inspection, as by using accumulating coaching by way of observations, questionnaires, etc. and examining it.

a poll is when choices are given and you have a vote...a survey is when you have a broad subject and want their own opinions

Poll: What is your favorite color?
a. blue
b. red
c. green
d. purple
^this is where you have to pick a choice

Survey: Favorites...
1. Color:
2. Animal:
3. Hobby:
4: TV Show
5. Movie
^this is where you give your own answer

I hope that helps =)
