if it is decided they can use it what do you think will happen? is there a way people who donated can appeal to have the fund frozen and how likely is it this would be granted?

I think it would be a very stupid move if they decided to do so. Public opinion is already turning and that would finish them.

As for the second part of the question. Well if someone who donated made an official complaint to the police they would have to follow it up.

As in - they collected this money to find Maddy and now they are using it for their own legal fees. They are suspects in the disappearance of their daughter and they were still actively trying to get people to donate so is this collecting fraudulently.

One interesting twist is that one of the purposes of the fund was to bring the people responsible to justice - well as the McCann themselves are the main suspects, the money, according to their own aims SHOULD be used the the prosecution AGAINST THEM

Personally, I didn't donate, due to the fact that I'm currently having money issues myself, but If I *had* donated - I would want it to go on to Madeline, & finding her, not on the mcanns - innocent or not.
I think there should be a way to stop them from accessing the funds that are supposed to be going towards finding their, daughter.

I expect they tried but arent allowed. They met with the Home Secretary today, it has been alleged.

They will probably start a new fund and it will probably be kept alongside the find Maddie fund. Ooops, they might get them mixed up!

If they know they didn't do it, why are they willing to spend hundreds of thousands of money that isn't theirs to prove they're innocent?
That fund is to help the search, not to win a court case.

And for people that say we shouldn't judge, if it's in the public eye we can do what we like. It's not like Gerry and Kate are exactly media shy, is it?
