From my experience some of them so, but then again some British, Spanish, French etc believe it of their own country too.

America thought it was the best ,biggest, and safest country in the world until 9/11 I think it taught alot of Americans a thing or two, but if a huge continent like America is not safe what hope do a small Island like England have?
I have visited the states in the past, I did like it, but felt it was very false, I think about visiting again but then I think I dont know if it is safe.I mean I can understand one intelligence man being a sleep on 9/11 but not all of them thats why I know someone knew the American Goverment were in on it. Why would I want to visit somewhere run by people like that.?

Nobody, not even US Americans REALLY believe it when they say that they live in the best country in the world. They claim that out of patriotism and there is nothing wrong with that !!! - I also say that mine is the best Mother in the world and we know what I mean by that. Being patriotic is beautiful. Nothing wrong with that.
ADDENDUM for "libsticker" above :
It is wonderful to be patriotic, 'libsticker'. But answer this:
(1) is the the view of ALL Americans ?
(2) All European countries have long ago abolished the death penalty. The USA still believes it is a deterrent.
(3) a large proportion of condemned on death row are coloured people and ALL are poor. How many millionaires have you on death row ? None ?
You can say you love your country. You can even say that your country is a good country to live in but saying that it is the BEST in the world.... it isn't. I for one would not like my children to be educated in the USA. Your primary and secondary education are very low quality. How do I know it ?
I did my high school 12th grade in Oregon USA and became an attorney in England in Europe.
By all means be patriotic but don't say my country is second to yours or not as good as yours because that is precisely what you mean. If you say your country is the most beautiful country in the world.... YOU ARE RIGHT. NO other country in the world beats the USA in beauty. I know... I have seen some of it -- only some of it.

O yes. Majority of Americans are simply ignorant and uneducated which never stepped outside their own country. In addition since their birth Americans are constantly being brainwashed by their own government which keep pounding in their heads that America has the most freedom and liberty than any other country. However in reality everything is vise verse, as US has the least freedom and least liberties than any other civilized country and even less than some other third world countries. In addition majority of Americans have a very wrong and an arrogant impression that people from other countries want to live in US. Nowadays only poor Mexicans want to get in US in order to make an extra few $ and to return back home as normal life in the US is simply impossible because of so many ignorant degenerates around you.

Well I visit their quite often and I love it and the people. Just because you don't like it does not count for much.
If Americans think they live in the best country, that's up to them.

I think we question it everyday. But when we see that we can openly criticize our government for the things they do that we oppose, we are convinced each time that this is the best country in the world, even though we are well aware of our faults.
We also know many other countries are wonderful, and can even understand why citizens of those countries may believe their country is the best, but we are firm in our belief about our country. It is not unquestioned by us though as you seem to think it is. The daily questioning is one of the things that keep us the best.

Right, because it would be oh, sooooo extremely healthy to believe we lived in not the best country in the world. You would like that.
Sorry. We have the US Constitution. It is the greatest protection for civil liberties and individual rights ever drafted.
We are used to the world being jealous. And we are used to watching how the rest of the world lives.
Keep your paws off our flag and everyone will be okay.

Key words being "without questioning it"...no, it is not true.
One of the strongest beliefs in my country is that dissent is the best kind of patriotism. I'm not sure I completely agree, but that is what makes my country what it is. If you knew even the slightest bit of history, you certainly would not post this question.

yes that is true due to having studied Alevel history i am fully aware that the americans were proud to callt them selves isolationsts which meant that they wanted to stay out of current affairs and they thought that they were the best and most powerful country in the world.. which to be honest was tested when they went through the Great Depression and the Wall St Crash...! they believe that they can maintain the best economic status and the best country in the world status ... but to be honest america may have been prtrayed as the best country but because of the war with iraq and the way Bush is behaving to be frankly honest the world does not need america .... america doesn't really treat every one with respect it randoml;y puts anyone in guatamino bay people who are not even supects of terriosm and that is what i hate they are recist at times and i hate it!! people should be treated with respect ...and i think that america do take for granted that they are "one of the best countries in the world" other countries that also top the list are ... britain, china , japan , france, and other well respected countries who have earned it and taken it for advantage for good will doing....any thing else i can help with america let me know ...???

effective, in the event that they have confidence their information source. If the comparable suggestion comes from 4 or 5 mainstream media shops, you are able to surprisingly lots wager the farm on its fact. in case you examine it on a weblog or an e mail and no mainstream participant carried the story, you are able to surprisingly lots wager on its legendary traits. what's sadder is each and all the individuals that have faith each and every e mail it truly is forwarded to them.
