I understand that Rap artists have a penchant for being showy. Every other music video depicts them riding around bling'd out cars.
But seriously, why do they have to pick on luxury UK cars, which have been synonimous with well to do, entrepenuers and business leaders for so many years. Twenty years ago, Rolls Royce would have refused to sell their cars to people who they might have thought would lower the tone of what their company symbolised. Aston Martin used to call in any prospective buyers to test their skills before selling a car to them. That's why, twenty years ago 99% of all Astons ever sold, were still on the road. They were respected by their owners. These days, they are given ridiculous wheels, paint jobs and interior colour schemes that any normal person would baulk at.

It proves the point. Many Americans simply do not have taste. It's all about showing the world just how much money you have.

Look at me! I spent $200,000 on a car, and another $100,000 ruining it!

Dial M - I was going to vote one of the other guys here, but they just agreed with me, so I am adding a little to the debate.

Rolls Royce - Refused to sell their cars to some of the Arab's back in the late seventies and early eighties. This was because they had a nasty habit of crashing the cars in the desert, and leaving them there. Rolls didn't think this was a good advert for the company.
Aston Martin - Brought people into their factory, to give them guidance on how best to enjoy their cars. Not to teach them to drive, but to teach them to respect the power they had, and also due to their twitchy nature.

Ferarri still imit who can buy their cars. You only have to ask anyone who wants to buy an Enzo. Yet they are still in high demand, coz loads of rappers don't dizzle them (whatever dizzle means) But you get my drift.

I would suggest that if a rapper wants to bling his car, he should pick on one that's allready sh1t. like the Escalade, Navigator or Chevy's.

In the era you are speaking of, the demand was high and the production was low.
The companies could afford to be selective regarding the owners of their cars.
An example would be: The choice of selling a grand champion bred horse to the glue factory or to another champion breeder.
But now the companies have sold, the demand is high, the production is up, the manufactoring costs are down and the products are not thought of as prestigious as years ago. There are also new laws regarding profiling that would shake a company's profit to the ground.

Hmmm, Rolls used to refuse to sell their product to people they didn't like? And Aston used to test you before they allowed you to spend your money on their product? Is that right? Well it's no wonder these companies are NO LONGER owned by you British boneheads! Rolls Royce now owned by BMW! Aston Martin? Was owned by Ford and just recently sold to who the h-e-l-l ever cares! How does that taste mate? You see here in the United States of America (something else you lot USED to own) we have this little thing called freedom! And it actually works some of the time, like I dunno when someone that has fat bank (oh that means they have a lot of cash by the way) wants to buy something that a company wants to sell then they do! And smart companies don't scoff at someone because they aren't lilly white and born with a silver fork up their A$S$S$! Ooops! I mean a silver spoon in their mouth. And smart companies don't look down on potential customers and tell them "Well you'll have to take a "test" to see if you measure up to our standards before you can have the privilage of paying us for our products!" Ya know that kinda puts people off mmm kay! Now there is one thing we can agree on..... hmmm, no probably not but I don't like it when people put really big wheels on a car or truck. I'm not saying you shouldn't upgrade to a bigger size but people there are limits! But still the bottom line is if you paid for it then you can do whatever you want with it no matter how silly you end up looking! I don't really think rich people are showing off when they buy a luxury sled, I mean hey you've got the money what else ya gonna spend it on? Ask yourself this question: Why do they make cars with 6 figure price tags? I don't have an answer but they sure as hell ain't for me and by the way your crying about it they ain't for YOU either! OUT!

Look at it this way, when I wake up in the morning, I'll always have good taste, whereas the sort of person who sticks solid gold spinners on a Phantom is very likely to wake up one morning & be skint!
By the way, it's not just Americans. Have you ever seen Manchester United's Car park?

I agree, but it's the same with those bloody footballers! When I see a rapper or footballer in one of those cars, it completely turns me off them. Maybe if rappers and footballers got paid in proportion to the actual work they did then maybe they'd only be able to bling out a Fiat Uno or something..lol!

I agree, some people who have money are very insecure and have to buy something and try to show it off. They belive money is power.... when really knowledge is power, but they dont have any knowledge at all.....It is nice to buy a new car and show your friends, but to put on 90 inch wheels and paint the whole thing retarded colors looks ridiculous.....
