what should the government be spending the (OUR) money on?

Sorting out our own issue in this country. We are one of the richest countries in the world, and yet we continually come bottom of the list in Europe when it comes to health care, education etc. We should never have gone to Iraq in the first place in my opinion.

I don't know the answer, Oprah Winfrey spent ten million on African children instead of here in America where her show and she is supported, when asked why and why she didn't spend it on American children, she stated "the American children didn't deserve it, they're spoiled" so, with this in mind? I would remind you that many children in Appalachia, along the entire chain, don't go to school past the eight grade but have to work to help support their families.

There are Indian (Native Americans) that live in abject poverty in the Southwest and West.

There are children, I've seen it myself, running loose in some large cities in the Southwest, some apartment complexes have as many as twenty five kids running in gangs, loose until they're caught doing crimes then locked up.

Some American children only eat one meal a day in this country, the "land of the free"

Yet, we're spending one billion dollars a month on the war with Iraq, after four years, you do the figures, how about Afghanistan, how much is going down the drain there?

The issues you speak of are valid but, there are further issues that are more important that most people don't know about or ignore.
Granted education is a very important issue but, you have to heal the body first, give the young something to look to in ther future, feed them, educate them, then they will lead us to a future, we can only hope.

Taking the war out of the question, everyone should vote so that the government is made to do the right thing and look after the people

As the public voted this gov't in on its policies including the continuing war in Iraq and its war on the Taliban in Afghanistan, then they are doing as the nation or majority wishes. If you disagree then use your vote at the next election to vote for the MP in your area who can best represent you and your views.

well if it wasnt for our soldiers being out there we might not be hear! u dont honestly think they wana be there in all that heat , sand , sand , and more sand, my friends daughter is out in camp bastion . its her job . you cant join the forces and choose were u wana be based. they dont get paid that much, so i do my bit and send a shoe box , baby wipes sweets , soap, things that they cant get hold of, and class as gold dust . at the end of the day we should pay them more. and spend less on THE SO CALLED MPs and the crap government

As the Uk is partially reponsible for the war in Iraq we should be helping out. After all compared to their problems ours are nothing.

I don't think they should be spending money on anything that involves large numbers of young UK troops being killed! I have always been anti the war, because I am not stupid and was fully aware we were being conned and lied too, so I am biased.

Remove University Tuition fees, improve student grants for families where one parent chooses to return to education.

well i don't think we should let them have control of our money very much.The whole being a third party spender really piss's me off.for some reason i get really upset when someone takes my money then doesn't car about cost our value.And that goes for ALL goverment programs to.
