there are between sizes if you go to target I think Playtex makes them or Fruit of the loom or one of those...you'll find it. Also, as an old Victoria's Secret employee I can tell you if you try on a longer band size sometimes you fit the bra better. so if you're a 36 D but have trouble staying in and a 36 DD is far to big try a 38 D or 34 DD. Sometimes just trying a different type of bra or brand of bra will make things fit better. When I was a 34 B I could wear a plunge bra but now I am a 36 C and my boobs fall out of a plunge so I use a full coverage style bra and it works better for my new (chubby) body type.

40DD is the same as a 40E there's simply a shape difference in the two. If you're filling too far forward for your taste, try a 40E since it will be rounder.
40F, 40EE, 40DDD are the same cup by most manufacturers. There will be differences in cup shape. If you like the DD forward fill then the 40DDD will be your choice.
Keep in mind that in those sizes, a few manufacturers have a tendency to run large. A 40DD in a Cacique bra might be what you'd want.

Different bra manufacturers use different lettering systems. The next bra cup size would be a 40DDD or 40F. DD = E. DDD = F

I agree with Lil Cat. You need to be properly fitted to find your true size. Go to a place that specializes in lingerie and talk to someone who is experienced in this area. Once you find your real size you will look and feel so much better.
But to answer your question, I would try on a couple of 42DD and 40DDD. The bigger the CUP size the harder it will be to find. Most likely you will have to go to a specialty shop anyway and they will most likely insist on fitting you. Take them up on it.

Think it's an E?
I'd go and get measured. Hundreds of women wear the wrong size. I was wearing a 36C for years and i'm actually a 34D
