Yes, I can trace my family back at least to the 1400's in Israel and after that things get hazy and I can't tell. My family are Jerusalemite Jews.

My mom says I was left on the doorstep by Gypsies, so I don't know where I'm from. Maybe I'm related to the Gabor sisters. NO PICTURES! "New York is where I'd rather stay, I get allergic smelling hay, I just adore a penthouse view, I love my darling, forgive me Park Avenue..."

i don't know how many generations it goes back, but i'll tell u what my family always tells me..

Dad's side... they immigrated from Spain in time of war... i think 19th century.. some went to UK... some travelled and lived in Morrocco... some travelled to america...
Those who travelled to Morrocco, they travelled across the coast of Africa and ended up here in Lebanon... my father grew up at the coast.. which means if they continued travelling, we'd be somewhere in Turkey or maybe even France.. on our way back to Spain...

Mom's side: Her grandmother is a black woman.. she said she have a pic of her when she was old... and she was really black... her husband.. - my mom's grandfather was Egyptian from Mansurah... blond with blue eyes :s ... How could that be!! well,... my mom's theory is that french men could have travelled by sea to escape being forced to join the french army.. and they ended up in this place called Mansurah and started their lives... but i looked up the history that relates mansurah to France and i found that in the time of Louis IX , battle of mansurah happened ... as the site says: "The Battle of Al Mansurah was fought on February 8, 1250 between the French Crusaders led by Louis IX and an Ayyubid army led Emir Fakr-ed-din." which means some french men must have liked some girls from there and married them :)
Also my mom's maternal great grandfather was from an island called Arados by the greek... Arwad by Phoenicians... Ruad Island... it's located near syria... yet nowadays it's just a fishing town..
It was mentioned twice in The Holy Bible, The Prophet Ezekiel on the Phoenician City of Tyre, ch. 27:
"The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were thy rowers: thy wise men, O Tyre, were in thee, they were thy pilots"
"The men of Arvad with thine army, were upon thy walls round about, and valorous men were in thy towers; they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have perfected thy beauty."

In years to come, my great grandkids will be telling these stories... and adding Canada as their home too.... which reminds me of something...
Wouldn't what i wrote be great as a subject for a book!!
