To Teach Respect....So we are big and slower than most other Vehicles does that give you the right to cut in front of us, to stop us from using the overtaking lane.
How long would it take if we had a all out STRIKE for you to ***** that there is no food in the Stores or Petrol for your cars that only transport one person to and from your place of work or other places, or BEER at your local Pub, or Airplanes grounded because they don't have fuel so now you can't have that holiday.
There are a lot of new and younger drivers as well as people for the EU who seam to think they have the right of way, and they don't need to use there Indicators and I have also notice that the Police are just as bad.
And yes there are some trucks drivers who are just as bad as you.
Who are you, You are the people on scooters, bikes, cars, Vans, wide cars that need more of the road than a truck, drivers who can't see in the dark so they drive around with the main beam on, need I say more.

Oh, it's so funny when people go on about putting road freight onto the railway system!!

Are we talking about the same railway system that regularly fails due to 'the wrong type of snow' or 'leaves on the line'? Yes, we are.

Are we talking about the same railway system that costs 500% more, per freight mile, than road? (Government figures, not mine...). Yes, we are.

Are we talkng about the same railway system that can only gaurantee delivery dates in weeks, not days? Yes, we are.

Are we talking about a railway system that has a branch line outside every supermarket, every pub and every petrol station? No, we are not.

Dream on my friends - if it wasn't for the trucks bringing you your bread, your milk, your beer, your petrol, your LIFE, this country would be in a civil war within a week.

Remember, "If you've got it, a truck brought it."

by way of fact one lot are paid by capacity of the government and one lot get to barter their very own pay with inner maximum companies. ethical of the story being that working for a private employer many times will pay extra perfect than working for a central authority branch. That stated, it incredibly is comparing apples and pears. the two at the instant are not the comparable. A tanker driving force could not do what a nurse does, and damn few nurses ought to rigidity a tanker. And favourite pay isn't an precise reflected image besides. i be attentive to somewhat some HGV and tanker drivers coz I stay in simple terms down the line from Grangemouth... and that i don't be attentive to everyone who earns that lots. not even on the edge of it.

Sounds like you are upset!
Ok so you deliver the essentials, but you must admit there are some bad truck drivers out there, ones who do not look in their mirrors before pulling out of the inside lane and also do not use their indicators. I have often had to jam on my brakes because of you guys doing that!
Also if you all went on strike, Ok you would bring the UK to a standstill after a week, but by doing so you will make the companies that hire you rethink their transportation stratergies & probably cause them to consider using the railways for the long haul and then transfer the loads into smaller lorries for the local runs, which to be honest would make the Green Parties day as they want to get rid of the long distance trucks serving shops & manufacture due to the carbon footprint!
So go on strike, and I will gain more work!!!! I work for the railway!

I am an ex truck driver(retired)all drivers are inconsiderate and at times woefully unobservant, there are no perfect drivers, defensive driving is the answer. If you have no experience of other types of vehicles and how they react in given conditions, then you will never become a true proffessional.I F YOU HAVE ONLY DRIVEN ONE TYPE OF HEAVY GOODS VEHICLE, that still applies. You need complete experience on every type of vehicle to be able to judge others. All drivers are just human.

I think it would be a great idea for all truck drivers to go on strike. That would free up the motorways for a while and in the meantime the government would have to seriously address the issue of using the railways to transport stuff instead. If we used more rail tranport, there would be less lorries, less pollution and less arrogant lorry drivers suddenly pulling out in front of cars and causing accidents and tailbacks. Hopefully, the lorry drivers who know the rules of the road would be the ones left and maybe then they would get more respect.
