In the National league I'd say the Phillies. Their #1 offense is built around Rollins, Utley, and Howard. At third Dobbs has had good first full season. The first three are either leaders or second in various different offense areas.
The also round out a solid infield on defense.

Anytime you have to include Andy Phillips, you can't have the best infield, you may have 3/4 of the best infield, but not the best.
That being said, I would also eliminate the Mets for 'having' to include Castillo.
I didn't think about Florida, but that's one heck of an infield.
I do agree with the biggest potential to be Milwaukee though.
Another year or two of development and consistancy for Hardy and Weeks and it's a monster.
Funny what drafting can do huh.

The Mets have the best infield all around with Delgado, Castillo, Reyes, and Wright.
The Marlins would be next with Jacobs, Uggla, Ramirez, and Cabrera
The Yankees are pretty solid but Cano is having a down year and I strongly feel Giambi is a liability at first.
The Red Sox with Youkilis, Pedroia, Lugo, and Lowell are also really solid, but I think they could upgrade up the middle a little bit. It's not as solid defensively as the Mets or Marlins.

I'm going with the Mets since they got Castillo. Reyes and Wright are two of the best young players in the game, Castillo has a few gold gloves to go with his 300 avg and Delgado can still hit the ball a very long way.
The Marlins are also pretty decent with a very good young talented infield. In a couple of years I think they will be better than the Mets if they keep everyone.

If you are speaking purely defensively, it is probably the Tigers. (But I am a fan, so maybe a bit biased.) They have solid defenders on the corners, and top notch defensive players at 2B and SS. (Who also have excellent batting averages.) Polanco has played more than an entire seasons worth of games without an error. Gullen rarely makes bad play. Inge comes up with some big plays every once in a while, and Casey is not spectacular, but he gets the job done.

i think of you're precise with the Yankees. That infield is frightening. Cano i think of could have a extra suitable 365 days this 365 days than final 365 days. He has a good number of skills and remains surprisingly youthful. Texiera of direction is super, and Rodriguez and Jeter talk for themselves.

If the Phillies had any kind of 3rd baseman, they'd have it. Look at what they have:
1B-Ryan Howard(2006 MVP)
2B-Chase Utley('07 MVP contender)
SS-Jimmy Rollins('07 MVP contender)
3B-Wes Helms(complete waste of space)
