This stuff goes on all the time. The only difference between the Pats and every other team in the NFL is they were dumb enough to get caught. What's so surprising is that it happened to a team coached by ESPN's proclaimed "greatest coach of all time."

It happens all the time. The same thing happened with Lawyer Milloy when NE cut him just before the first week of the season and he signed with Buffalo.
It is up to the player to decide whether he wants to divulge any information, but most teams know that the information the player gives them is probably not the same information that the team will use during the game.
Was it shady for the Patriots to take video shots of the Jets coaches to learn the hand signals for their defense? Was it even shadier to know that they have done it at least four times before?

The Patriots did the same exact thing the same week: they brought in a couple of ex-Jets to get info.

no, once released it is completely allowed. if reche caldwell wants to speak to the jets, he can. Also, do you really think the pats signed vinny testeverde at age 43 to be their qb. no, they wanted info about the jets. all that is legal, taping the defensive signs is not.

Hey, at least they didn't video record the pats hand signals. ..now if you ask me that is "shady" but more on the cheating side.
