It seems to me that people are automatically assuming that any illegal taping was to cheat in the ongoing game. While this might be true, I have difficulty imagining how someone could tape a call, relay it to the coach, who in turn would relay info to change a play in real-time game play. Keeping in mind that the QB must relay info to other players, sometimes in a hurry up offense. I now wonder if the taping, while illegal, was done to obtain a deeper understanding of play calling for future games. I want to here your views.

Yes, everything you said is true. Relaying all of that info is highly implausible. They were definitely seeking to use the tapes later on to prepare for the next meeting. Teams do this a lot. Usually an outside source films it and sells it to various teams.

Remember when Miami bought the footage of the Pats last year? No one said or did anything.

It's also no surprise that Mangini was the one to tip off the NFL. I heard after the Pats cut their players Mangini went right after every one of them. No one signed but you know he was mainly looking for inside information.

This is all sad, in so many ways.

implausible - highly imaginative but unlikely; "a far fetched excuse"

This whole accusation of the Pats somehow being able to read every defensive play is exactly that implausible. I think you give too much credit to the Pats or you just have too much hatred towards them to even think clearly.

Instead of attacking me like a true moron. Why not spell out how they would have been able to cheat during that game? Aka where the camera man would have to be; what he would have to film; how he would relay that info quickly to the coaches; ect.

I'm not saying they couldn't do it, but it seems like it's been taken out of context. They have been found guilty of having a camera which as of this year is illegal in the NFL. They have not been charged of cheating. They very well could have been but only time will tell.

This was cheating. Whether the coach on the other sidelines holds up a poster saying "run" or "pass" the other sideline is not suppose to be spying, that is the rule.

With all the video available to NFL teams I do not give any leniency to the Pats. They have been accused of this by many teams. They finally got caught.

The video in the early part of the game was to decipher the calls for the rest of the game. They would cheat each game to determine what calls are run or pass or gadget, then adjust the defense accordingly.

Don't be narrow-minded on what it's like to live in the other team's huddle. There's a reason why the two teams huddle away from each other.

Get real...another envious Patriot basher...The Patriots are the best team in the NFL...They don't need to "spy" on opponents...And if you know anything about the Pats and Jets, you know there is a lot of bad blood between Belichick and Mangini...and that is all this is...
