What is better and why?

My last two PCs that I built were on Asus main boards with AMD Athlon CPUs.
They were quieter and more reliable than my friends Pentium based PC's.

I built my current PC in 2002... so that puts it built somewhere in the computer equivilant of the Jurrasic period so it's time to upgrade.

I use my PC for Internet, Multi media and gaming.

PS. If I were to run an Athlon 64 x2 6000+ and a pair of Sli Gforce 7's would a 450W PSU be enough?

Intel's Core2 Duo is better than AMD X2. Benchmarks don't lie:

450W PSU w/ strong dual +12V rail may be able to handle up to 7800GT SLI but not the higher models that could draw more than 12 amps on the +12V rail.

the amd is quad middle and the intel is purely twin plus the amd has one greater mb of cache, even theory the intel cpu is onlt 0.1ghz swifter it wont make a difference reason the amd one has 4 cores. So the amd cpu is greater powerful well-known yet for video games in maximum circumstances the pictures card is what concerns. yet once you will host servers and stuff and desire a swifter computer adventure then get the amd cpu

I have a pentium D processor and and my friend has an AMD one and I would say that his works alot better than mine. I used to think that Pentium was way better but my computer is loud from the processor and has double the processor speed than my friends and his works just as good as mine. I would go for AMD.

Intel E6750 is better than AMD 6000+,if you over clock,Core2 is much better than X2 in each way.
And i suggest you choice 8800GTS 320m instead of G7X SLi,you could get the better performance in most game.

Personally I prefer Pentium, because it has a higher cache memory.
