I'm doing a psycholoy research project and Im thinking of investigating whether or not people's opinions of things, e.g. films/video clips, are influenced by the opinions of people surrounding them. What do u think?

Yes, people's opinions are based on what facts they know or think they know at the time of conversation with others.

After getting input from others they may change all or some of their opinion on the issue. If for example you watch a movie with friends and you miss or misunderstand what a actor had said during the movie and after discussion with your friends, you then change you opinion of the movie. This applies to all interaction with people on most subjects.

This does not mean that all parties will agree, but they may come closer to a middle ground of beliefs.

always!....as long as it's not a really important issue. people are influenced by the people closest to them like friends, family, and significant others. if your viewers are watching in a group of friends they may be more likely to discuss it and form more of a group opinion, whereas if total strangers are watching a video together there may be a lot less interaction. plus, there could likely be a completely different result if the people watch the videos alone. good luck with your project. :)

Definitely yes. I think alot of people will outwardly be swayed (say they like a certain song, movie, etc) and say they like it, even if they dont really feel on the inside that they do. Also people will sometimes not mention liking something simply because they are concerned about what others think.

Yes. I've often changed my opinion of something once I have heard a different angle from somebody else.

Yes, but mine arent, im not a conformist like all the other people on here. They believe everything they hear and simply repeat it, like its a fact, without giving any actual analysis of their own.

yes, there are times that we are influenced by others. but, in most cases, if we have strong opinions on certain isuues or topic, i don't think we should allow others to sway us.

It should not be called swaying - it should be
called understanding. It is understanding which
makes us as better humans.
