The last few months I have been noticing all the stupid and ridiculus shows their coming out with, I don't have satellite, but the 86 channels I do have are nothing but, talk shows, stupid reality shows, sports, hispanic, informorcials, how to shows, hollywood update channels, religious etc. Only a few like AMC, TCM and Bravo occasionally, once in a blue moon show a decent movie and than other channels like lifetime, Tbs or ABC show the same movie over and over and over every week. What is going on with TV? There are barely any movies on anymore, just crappy sit comes or reality shows...................

Going , Going , Gone. The crap we get today would not have made it on air ten years ago. Now once you have flicked through all the channels you have to decide whether to go for a walk or listen to the radio, There just isn't a single thing worth watching.
It seams ridiculous that in the era of the huge screen and 100's of channels to choose from somehow we have less to watch. Do they have a contest to see who can lose the most viewers. What the hell is going on.

You have 86 channels and still can't find anything worth watching? Oh my, my tv has 6 channels and that's without cable. Yet if I am up at 2 in the morning, the only shows on at all are stupid informercials that drive me insane. TV is definitely going down the s-bend with all the reality tv shows, too much drama (i'd prefer it on tv than in real life anyday), all the good shows get taken off way too quickly and all the crappy ones stay. I think we should have more control over what's on rather than dull old executives.

There are so many movie channels now plus pay-per-view that by the time a movie is able to be on "regular" TV, most people have seen it. I was flipping through channels the last week and ran across Gone With The Wind. I was thrilled. I sat and watched all three hours.
There is the other reason too. Movies cost so much to make now that the production houses want way to much money to view their movie. It's all about the money.

it seems like certain stations do show the same movies over and over again. We have basic TV and it seems like those stations that show movies are the same ones like tey've lost the rights to show a lot of them or something. And yes Britney sucked opening the VMA's on MTV last night I agree...that would make you wonder why you pay for cable. She looked awful.

I pay for netflix if I want to watch movies.

I really like daytime soaps right now, so I watch those. and makeover shows like what not to wear or tim gunn's guide to style.

I agree that there are too many reality shows right now, but some of the fiction shows are pretty good. I like heroes. I am looking forward to pushing daisies. and of course, i like desperate housewives.

If you want better entertainment there are other things you can do then watching TV and if you think TV is showing nothing but cr*p then why dont you do something about it. I dont want to be or sound mean to you but I see whatever comes out in TV and I mostly all the time find something I like. When I dont find something I like in TV I go out and do something or I play games or take a walk. If you dont like whats coming out in TV then dont turn the TV on and do something else.

It's because that's what people want to watch.

I suspect that those of us too smart to sit through crap like Big Brother have switched to the Internet which has more crap but also more that's actually worth looking at so that pretty much the only people left watching TV are the ones who are lacking in neurons.

There are a few good shows, but you have to wade through an ocean of crap just to get to them.

TV has definitely turned to crap... It's hard to watch it these days without feeling like you're being robbed of your intelligence, no matter what country you live in. (I'm in Australia)
