i know to many addictys in their forties that look at least 5 years younger than they really are... heroin is said to slow the bodies functions and could therefore slow the metabolism. Which could retard the againg process. Look at methamphetamines, they speed up the bodies functions and look how nasty those people get in a few years. sure heroin can give you that droopy face, dark circles under eyes but, but its seems to me that it prevents wrinkles. thats just what i think... and of course heroin is a dangerous drug that should not be messed with.

Yes it can slow the aging process, so slow that you end up in the ground 6 feet under, about as slow as you can get.

as someone who has used heroin on and off for the last 13 years, i can say that it all depends upon the lifestyle the addict leads- if you're living rough on the streets, not eating well and getting any exercise, guess what? you'll probably not be a very pretty picture. on the other hand, if you're one of the addicts that you never hear about - those who, despite their addiction, still lead normal, healthy lives, in my own opinion , yes, we look younger. it makes sense - the drug changes you on a cellular level; it slows down the metabolism. therefore, it does somewhat slow down the aging process. I look - as you've mentioned - five years younger than i actually am. keep in mind though, i exercise, eat well and keep on top of my addiction; when the drug is no longer having a pleasant effect, i will 'kick' for a while until the tolerance has gone down.

in my own opinion, the two drugs that really age a person? alcohol and tobacco. funny that- the two most prevalent drugs in the world are actually worse physically and, in the case of alcohol, mentally than heroin. and the are legally and morally sanctioned. true, meth is probably one of the most devastating drugs on the body and mind - i used to be a tweaker a while back, and kicked that filthy habit. i went back to california to visit for the first time in 7 years, and those of my old friends that were still tweakers looked awful. plus, their heads were properly spun.

even so, despite the fact that heroin is highly addictive, and can kill instantly in the case of an overdose- do a bit of unbiased research and you'll find that heroin is fairly harmless in and of itself. it's the lifestyle that the majority of addicts lead that is harmfull. it's addictive, causes constipation and in high doses can kill, but if you were, say, a doctor with access to clean diamorphine - you could use heroin your whole life without much trouble.

it's largely up to the mentality of the individual- if you hate yourself and your life, and are trying to escape, chances are you'll end up living on the streets and not looking to hot. if you simply use heroin because you enjoy it- no death wish and plenty of caution- you can get away with it. i won't lie, my heroin use is definitely a means of self-medication; i find it to be a very successfully anti-depressant. and, yeah, i like the high.

but getting back to the original question, yes, it can somewhat slow the aging process - i look pretty good for my age!

now, i think it's extremely important for me to state clearly for the record: I DO NOT IN ANY WAY ENDORSE OR SUGGEST THAT ANYONE SHOULD EVER USE HEROIN. hell, if you're that vain, get plastic surgery. it's just that after reading everyone Else's "..yeah heroin makes you look young, cus you'll DIE before you get old..." line, i felt the need to try to give a slightly more informed and unbiased answer.

seriously, do some googling about alcohol vs. heroin and you may be surprised at what you unearth.

So..
This is a very good anti-aging program I'm following: http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=547

it's developed by Steve and Becky Holman and it's 100% natural: no drugs, no supplements, no gimmick. They teach how to slow the aging process. There are specific ways to move, eat and think that tell your brain to stop and even reverse the aging process. There are also things they you absolutely have to avoid if you really want to look younger and achieve your ideal body. More info on the site.
Cheers ;)

Im havnt really got any advice for this since i've not dealt with it. I'd imagine drugs consellors (sp) will be used to dealing with that sort of stuff though and also the internet is a great resource. The consellor is probably the best though as they can actually give you support. You could possibly search for a forum of some sort so that you could talk to other people who have cared for babies addicted to drugs? I just really wanted to say that I really admire what your doing and I hope that all goes well and that the babies okay. I know your probably really angry with your sister right now and you have every right to be and it must be so difficult for you but I hope her rehab programme works out for her and just support her as much as you feel able, it will really help the process of her getting better and not having this happen to any other children she may have in the future. Anyway, I cant tell you how amazing you are for taking on this responsibilty! I hope everyone works out okay! Thinking of you, good luck x

I don't know which heroin addicts you've been looking at, possibly well off ones. All the addicts I've ever encountered look ancient, particularly the women.

i dont think that that drug makes someone 'younger' but thinner. since the 'thin' character is desired and widely accepted as the modern teenage aim as bauty; then your claim can be considered.

for me, heroin is a BIG NO NO!
